Re: The Wire on BET tommorow

i know this is an old post but it made me laugh. recently saw a an episode from season 1 with a scene where bunk and mcnulty recreate a crime scene. the only word used throughout by both men was the f word with numerous permutations of the word.

another word - butchered - comes to mind

Re: A Latino/Barrio equivalent to Kody's 'Monster'?

Kody does get pretty colorful, doesn't he? Inspirational isn't exactly the word that comes to mind, tho'.
I'll check out Rodriguez' book.

Thanks for the note.

Re: Man on Fire (2004)

hmm... each his own. A good story. don't know if this was the best way to tell it. would be unwatchable if it weren't for denzel.

A Latino/Barrio equivalent to Kody's 'Monster'?

I just checked out Sanyika Shakur's "Monster" - pretty good read!
I'm looking for books that reflect the life and times of Latino gangbanger/s and life in the barrio.
I saw "The Black Hand" mentioned here on the forum.
What r the top 3 books?
Welcome any/all suggestions.
thanks
