There was an East Side black gangs in the 50's/early 60's called the Black Swans. I've seen MSB/FSB hit up Black Swans before. Sometimes L.A. black gangs hit up old gangs names from their neighborhood's past or their gang's roots. It seemed like an obvious connection. If I'm wrong, I stand corrected.

Lueders Park Hustlers

Athens Park Boys

Brims - Westside SC I think they are one of the oldest black gangs.

No one mentioned:

- Black P Stones (1969)
- 92 Bishops (ear;y 1970s) led by Bobby Lavender
Ive seen some articles posted from the early 1970's calliing them Black Stone Rangers vs Harlem Crips

Don’t know if that’s a typo or if that’s their original name

I personally always thought they’re original name was Black Stone Brims

Swans ~ 1972

Most would be surprised to know where there founders were from.

Black Swans from the 1950s, never heard of them. Where were they located?

L.A Black P Stones 1969 is debatable.

T Rodgers claims he brought BPS from Chicago to L.A. The problem I have with that, it puts him here starting a gang at 9yrs old. Possible but highly doubtful.

I would add:

- Grandee Compton Crips (not sure year but in the early 1970s)
- 97 East Coast Crips (aka East Side Crips - 1970)
- Bounty Hunters (1969/1970)
- Hoovers were out in 1971 (not sure which one, 74, 83, 112 or 107)

i always thought the same thing, but he was born in 1956, so in '69 he would have been 12 or 13. More likely? O/G Madd Ronald does confirm how he ran alot of areas in the 1970s.

Im not familair with T Rodgers in any way, shape or form

so Im curious: what specifically was he running? was he front line gang-banging in the 1970s?

if so ... vs who? Harlem Godfather Crips...do his rivals from Harlem and West Side Brims confirm this?

there are many old heads from OHC and old Brims still around who easily confirm this

was he shot callin / slangin / hustling / pushing Black P Stones in the 1970's?

is he recognized as the "official" founder of BPS by his peers?

what lil I do know about him is that he was a peace-maker... since long ago

He ran 5 different area in the 1970s on the gang bangin tip. All the areas were in what the City Stones area is today. Then he got the Jungle Boys to turn Black P Stone, and I was told he had Queen Anne Park, which is west of Crenshaw near SYC and MCS turf.

He rivaled with the Crips of the time, mostly 30s, but the ironic part is that his older brother, called Cadillac ________ (?) became a reputable Halem 30s. He has been locked down for many years.

dont BPS have the biggest territory of Blood hood in L.A.?

.........

i believe Queen Anne Park is part of Mid City Stoners hood,

My gut feelimg is T Rodgers was not am Official BPS from Chicago. I think at best he was a Wannbe or grew up around them as a kid. Came to L.A and started some shit up on some non official tip and it caught steam and blew up. Turning Brim made them official im L.A..

It's similar to when these L.A square kids go off to college in other states, or when they families sendsend them to leave with relatives IT, a lot of these dudes weren't official but grew up around gangs and planted that shit OT and it caught on.

Im guessing T Rodgers.story is similar

I ain't feeling his story that a 12/13yr old kid requested permson to start an L.A branch from the Chicago dudes. When? He came out here with his momma he had know idea what LA was about or if the kids in LA would embrace BPS. I think he did it on his own. Came to LA when kids were forming little clicks, creews d.and gangs and he just used a name from his home town he was familar with...

He make it like it was planned. On my way to LA, by the way, can I start a BPS branch. Don't know what culture is like in LA, don't have no friends, don't no anybody, but u asking permission to start a gang in a place u never been?

^^Not sure about Van Ness. Arlington Gangsters might have been first....

I was talking to an old timer westside area...he told me that in the 50's there was a black gang called the Dukes. Never heard of them...just the latin car club, never a gang.

No, The City Stones (the Bity), 21st Street near Monte Claire in the West Adams was the original Black P Stones. T. Rodgers never did a stretch, until, 2012.

Back in the early 1970s, The City Stones went west to Queen Anne, now is stops at Crenshaw.

I think the largest Blood turf are Black Stones, Bounty Hunters and R 20s.

@Youngspade- Ifg is larger than the 20's and BPS? I did not know that. I always thought that 20's was the largest blood set in LA County.

I aint the black gang expert by any means ... but I know lil sum sum

and I did over 5 years of my life in torcido, mostly Y.A. but I always thought the biggest Sangre’s were Black P Stones, Bounty Hunters, Rollin 20's NHB and Denver Lanes (LA & Pasadena)

IFG blow up in numbers last couple of years?

Actually I think IFG is older than mid 70’s

IFG is one of those few hoods that can actually trace their history directly back to The Chain Gang

Thus pre-dating both the Crips and Bloods

Did u ever read the history of The Family in allhood issue 6?

It has both your hood history IFG … red side

and history of THE LOTT 13 on the Sureño blue side

check it out

I know IFG & 60’s don’t see eye to eye

but Kevmac from 60’s is a real one … I know him personally and I’ve been with him in The 60’s many, many times

I’ve even posted up with him in The hills, Slauson avenue, different homies pads & many clubs with him & others

He’s introduced me too & I’ve slammed plenty of cold ones & played dominoes with gang of real older 60’s

Were just on a different level, straight up grown man shit!
