Early gangs that became Crips

Unread post by Silencioso » August 16th, 2003, 12:13 pm

Most Crip hoods were started up by Crips but there's a few exceptions:

Al Capones (Tookie Williams' original gang) - became West Side Crips

Harlem Godfathers - beacame Harlem 30's Crips

Watts Varrio Grape St. -mixed black and Mexican gang in Jordan Downs projects that adopted Crip affiliation, later became Grape St. Watts Crip.(Mexicans stayed WVG St.)

Hat Gang - Became Hat Gang Watts Crips.

Santana Boys - became Santana Blocc Compton Crips

Twilight Zones - early Watts gang that merged with E/S Crips.

An early gang that I'm not sure about is Figueroa Boys. Their hood was the same as Hoovers but I'm not sure if they became Hoovers or if they just died out and Hoovers started up later.

Santana Boys - became Santana Blocc Compton Crips
Silencioso, I read that somewhere. Would you happen to know where Santana Blocc gets their name from? There doesn't seem to be any Santana St, Rd, or whatever in Compton according to maps.

Santana comes from Santa Fe Ave. as far as I know.

Fig Boys became Denver Lanes? I don't think so. I saw a gang map from '72 and Fig Boys hood was the same long strip of terrirory as Hoover Crips but with Figueroa as the center. Denver Lanes were shown below Fig Boys in the same basic area they still hold down to this day. Alonso has probably seen this map.

My OG friend from Cpt told me the original Santana Boys got the name from the Santana brand beach cruisers they rode around on in the 70's. I never understood how they got Santana from Santa Fe,,and he was around Cpt in the 70's so I believe him.

Swamps had existed before, and they became Original Swamp Crip, but I am not sure if the Swamps had died out and then a new generation started Swamp Crips, or if the Swamps turned Crip.

Yeah Swamp Boys turned Swamp crips...

Fig Boys are a seperate group from the Denver Lanes.. The Denver Lane Boys came first then co-existed with the Fig boys.. The fig boys became defunct and some turned Hoover... th Denver lanes bloods that claim Figg have nothing to do with the Original figueroa Boys...

Smaks turned West Side Crips...
Shack boys tuned East Coast Crips
Piru Street boys turned Piru Street crips
Harlems turned Harlem Godfather Crips
Madden boys, Arlington Ave Hustlers, Rollin Avenues (etc) turned Rollin 60 Crips
Midtown Brims turned School Yard crips
118th turned 11-8 East Coast Crips
Main Street Boys became Main Street Crips, and Mad Swan Bloods
Swamp boys turned Original Swamp Compton crips
Doty Ave, Myrtle Street Hustlers turned 10-2 Raymond Ave Crips
Some of the Smaks became Watergate Crips, Block crips, Underground Crips
Sin Town gangsters became Pomona 3-57 Crips
Hoover Groovers became Hoover Crips
East Side Hustlers became East Side Crips
56 Syndicate became _____ Crips???
The Q-102's became 102nd East Coast Crips

I heard the same story from an Original Santana Block about the bikes similar to schwinns, there were like 7 of them originally and they all had bies alike.. so they started calling themselves the Santana Boys, had nothing to do with Santa fe... several groups merged to Santana Blocc compton crips...

It was the Chain Gang, some of their members turned inglewood Family

Why didn't someone start a blood topic for the bloods since this one specifically asked about "Early Gangs that became CRIPS."

i was told that the original crip hood eventually turned into East Coast Crip. and the ECC emphasizes the original gangs hand sign which was the "E" and the "C" for east side crip.

the first ECC that came out was from the Six pac and it was only one hood at first called "east coast crip", when shac boys turned east coast they started getting different streets like the original coast split into 62ecc and 69ecc, the shac boys turned 76ecc. they recruited the bloc boys too - that turned into the 118ecc then the trac boys also turned 118ecc.

68ecc was started by 69ecc, 66ecc was prolly from 62 or 69 also.

the rest i dont know about.

prolly mistadroop from 89 knows how his hood came to be crip

Eastside Crips changed there name to East Coast Crips around 1981, so East Coast is not Original.

Your right, it started in the 6 Pack, im told 62 or 69 kicked it off, then it took off from there, recruiting other sets into the new East Coast Crip Alliance.

For the most part, every ECC set outside of the 6 pack was an established set that got sucked into the Coast.

Kitchens, Main Streets, 4 Trays and Avalons had their names before the East Coast name was put into effect.

On the w/s, Undergrounds, Blocc Crips, and Neighborhood Crips are the first break away sets, established sets.

So you can look at it like this, on the Eastside the 60th Streets was the Eastside Crips head Quarter, and the 100's was th Westside Crips Headquarters, in the Beginning.
