I'm quoting Alex Alonso in the video of Oldest Crip gangs pt 2. @8:45 he said Harlem Crips were called the Harlems before they were Crip.

And he also said they got the name Harlem because Big James was from Harlem and moved there in the late 1960s....

well Kev Mac just did a vid with an older cat who knew Big James which said he spent his younger years living on the Eastside growing up in the Bishops hood and when he was younger he played football and was in elementary school with the kids in the neighborhood.

Big James roots were so deep in the Bishops hood that when he came back they didn't even decide to beef with him because they had known each other for so long, no mind you when he grew up there he was slouch and pretty much picked on but he got his weight up.

Alot of Westside Crips were originally from the Eastside.



I think the name Harlem for Harlem 30s came about because of the popularity...
