Downey Boys (1942)
Does anyone know where this gang was located? They allegedly jumped members of the 38th streets in 1942 at the sleepy lagoon which resulted in the Sleepy Lagoon murder in which members of 38st were arrested. The 38th streets were located at Vernon and Long Beach blvd at the time. I found the court summary but don't know how to upload

That vato Gibby has posted that back in the 40s Downey was the name of Broadway before the street name was changed and they used to be just as you entered lincoln heights by downey park and i believe their name was the downey ramblers (?)

they were probably in Downey, not to far from the location where all that drama happened.

Re: Downey Boys (1942)
The boys from Downey involved in the Sleepy Lagoon case were NOT a Chicano gang. They were a group of Anglo boys who happened to live in the city of Downey. They were dubbed the “Downey boys” in the court case but over time this has transformed into a group called Downey Boys. This is incorrect. The testimony by Eleanor Coronado during the trial clearly states they were an Anglo group of boys from the city of Downey.
