Wild Pitch on ball 4?
If a pitcher throws a wild pitch on ball 4 that gives the hitter the base, is that an official wild pitch or can you only get called for wild pitch if a base runner advances?

its only a wild pitch if a runner advances.
If the pitch goes wide on ball 4 and there are no base runners then its scored a walk.
At least thats how the announcers explained it when brett meyers(i think) did it.

But if strike 3 is a wild pitch....and the batter gets to 1st...its a wild pitch and a strike out.

Re: Wild Pitch on ball 4?
if strike three get past the catcher then isnt that a "pass ball" rather than a "wild pitch." If the pitcher threw something close enough for a strike, then how can that be wild?SURAIDERO wrote:But if strike 3 is a wild pitch....and the batter gets to 1st...its a wild pitch and a strike out.

Re: Wild Pitch on ball 4?
Its possible to have a wild pitch on strike three...with the batter making it to 1st..it would have to be a pitch with alot of movement....
its just rare....its all listed somehwere in the rule book.
