Japanese has some pretty good rap. And it seems that they especially like to make g-funk sounds and ride old, American cars. Like this way:

This is a pretty popular turkish german rapper. He is rapping about "Uncle Tom Turks" in germany, but in a ironic way. He is married to a german woman.
He is mentioning several examples of successful turks in germany but the chorus keeps saying "no matter how much i change, i will always be the stupid foreigner to you".

Good song though, sampled from a turkish folk song.

Talking about that, heres some more turkish rap, first one is from london, second one is from Berlin early 1990s, 'Cartel'. They really set off the turkish rap scene in germany and europe.

What about Cem Karaca? He was very famous too and also worked together with Baris Manco.

I dont know i f you like all genres of turkish music, but Ahmet Kaya is also very famous and popular, but he is more into Türkü, the slow, melancholic type turkish music

Then you have for modern music Mustafa Sandal, who is doing all kinds of music, here its a reggea type song, with a german reggea artist

Cem Karaca also is amazing, because he did a complete album in german. And his german is pretty fucking good.
He had to escape to germany from turkey because the military government persecuted him because of his lyrics and he lived here for a couple of years.
This is one of his songs in german, criticizing racism and integration..

Youtube blocks certain videos for certain countrys. I dont know why, but i hate that shit too. There are programs which unblock all videos though...

Proxtube for example.

Nice. Seems like a lot of rap out there is political social struggle. Rap, IMO, used to be like that here. Now just posers n busters rapping about budz n money n shit they ain't never been involved with. Rap now-a-days is garbage. Just my opinion.

martinez its the copyright, youd be surprised how much american stuff isnt allowed in the uk because of it...it pisses me right off...
certain languages seem to lend themselves better to rap music than others, with the obvious exception of english i find the latin languages (spanish/french/portugese) easier on the ear than the germanic ones...

anyhow enough of that...

I agree with you. I have always liked rap music, but american music started to suck at a certain point for the most part.

Theres a huge genuinely creative scene around the world right now.

That Ahmet Kaya sounds very nice, really liked it! I like melancholic music, also our "national music" is very melancholic. Melancholy is just something that does the job

Mustafa Sandal was nice, too. I've actually listened quite a lot of Gentleman. Bulutsuzluk Özlemi's "Normal" also sounds good to me. Mogollar was a bit too up-tempo for me. Athena has a nice ska-vibe - do you know any other Turkish ska-bands?
