Well you should learn of such things and recognize their importance. The decisions such men make eventually affect your life and the people you care about.

He is the first Black man ever nominated and then appointed to the Supreme Court and is handing down decisions that could have ramifications into this country's perpetuity after being put through a "kangaroo court" trial over whether or not he put a pubic hair on a coke can and mentioned something about a porno movie called "Long Dong Silver." He may even become the next Chief Justice! Anita Hill owes this MAN an apology. He was slandered by politicians and certain individuals in an attempt to prevent him from being nominated. A factor in that, in my opinion, was because he was Black and that is inexcusable. Here's his record. Do you think he's done a good job?

But sometimes isn't convicting a black guy of rape a 'political' decision?

At risk of sounding like something out of 'to kill a mocking bird' - when you have a white female accusing a black one of rape - no matter how the jury is selected can you be sure that the decision will be made purely on the grounds of the evidence and not on any 'racial' considerations?

Also when you consider the number of cases (rape and otherwise) that never make it to court due to 'insufficant evidence' - and considering Tupac's case where the evidence was downright flimsy, but he still did time - and the rest of the guys involved had their cases dropped - is race /background sometimes a reason why cases with flimsy evidence are passed onto the prosecution service, and the prosecution service agree to take them?

The law, and those who make it AND those who enforce it are supposed to be colour blind (and in an ideal world they would be) - when decisions are being taken behind closed doors about how cases are handled then it's become a political issue - even if no candidate ever campaigns on it......

You could also argue that race and background can influence a murder investigation and how it's handled - i.e the weight thrown behind the Cosby murder case and the conviction - v's the fact that 8 years down the line 'Pac and B.I.G's murder's are still unsolved.....but that's a different line of thinking for another thread.
