I know this is a super old thread, but I stumbled upon it by accident. I just thought maybe some people would still like to hear from someone in Wyoming to help answer your questions.

Yes, there are cowboys in Wyoming. Both the kind of cowboys you'd see in Texas, and then real cowboys. It's both amusing, and a little insulting to think we would only have the KKK here. In reality, the KKK has never had any actual presence. This is largely because racism is nearly non existent in Wyoming. Yes, there are racist individuals, but you don't have enough of them to form any kind of unified movement. There are rich people, and poor people, but for the most part, the gap isn't wide enough to create a class warfare system you find in bigger cities like L.A. or Chicago.. There are simply rich neighborhoods and poor ones, as opposed to Latino or Black neighborhoods, and therefore the poor white trash doesn't feel threatened by large numbers of other impoverished people from another race. No one here thinks Blacks or Mexicans are stealing jobs, or anything like that. There is literally no racial tension.

The unification under a race flag, or even just bands of minorities isn't a necessity like it would be in some cities, this is a major reason we don't have much gang activity. The sheer lack of numbers makes it hard to recruit. There are many more Hispanics in Wyoming than Blacks, but even they don't have any specific turf if that makes sense. There is no central place they can unify, and essentially feel safe and hidden in neighborhoods. When there is gang activity, it stands out, and is cracked down on quickly and effectively not just by the Police, but citizens who won't put up with it as well. If there are a string of break ins, everyone camps at their back door with a gun waiting for someone to try on them, bringing the crime spree to a complete halt.

Even though most gangs have no real longevity, there are still gangs cropping up from time to time. Here are some things you'll see...

Because of the lack of numbers ready and willing to unify under race, you get mixed race gangs trying to start up. A few Black people will come from LA, Atlanta or Denver trying to expand, and while they might have been Bloods in their old city who wouldn't talk to a white guy, they'll recruit white folks just out of necessity. When the population is mostly white, it's going to be white people who know where to get contraband, and white folks buying contraband from them. These gangs usually come up with a new set name under an old flag, for instance the most recent problem we had were called "The Casper Mafia Bloods" which essentially tried to get away with crimes too big and noticeable for them to keep getting away with. Had they stuck to drug dealing and shaking down nobodies, they'd probably still be around.

More serious gangs pop in and out. The Mexican Mafia has no real presence here, but they sell drugs to local drug dealers. They come in and create an avenue for drug sales, but keep a low profile. Most people will never see or hear of them. Other gangs do similar things, and it's more common the closer you get to the borders of the State. There are always gangs from Colorado trying to get a foothold in here.

The major gangs that have been here, and stick around, and no one dares fuck with, are the Motorcycle clubs. Wyoming is a Bandidos state, but there are a few smaller clubs that also ride around here.

If any of you still frequent the forum, I hope that gave you an idea and answered some questions. Hopefully it is also helpful to anyone new who happens upon this as I did!

Just a quick add to my other post..

Native gangs...

Most of the Natives live on reservations, most of their tribe money comes from Casinos. I've heard it was pretty rough in days back to wander onto the reservation, but these days, they pretty much tolerate "tourists" very well, and while they don't kiss your ass or anything, they know it's not in their interest to scare you off or cause problems.
