As you know, gang membership numbers are hard to calculate county wide like that, and law enforcement adds the numbers up different. They don't distinguish between older members that are now inactive and active ones all the time. Among other problems. Many gangs in Riverside are between 10 and 30 active members and theirs a few like ES Riva and WS Riva that are in the hundreds. So maybe their numbers aren't all that off.

These numbers usually tend to count every libing member and former member of a gang, as well as associates. So they tend to be inflated, so the lions share of these numbers are int he bigger gangs, like esriva, casablanca and so on, which have been around for generations.
