Going by the cardinal directions, it is South East. When you take 880 South, you're theoretically going deeper into East Oakland. So, it's kind of confusing. If one were looking at a map, they could refer to it as South Oakland. But it's never been called that, obviously.
Any updates on the O, or what? Because we're over here discussing geography....

Not tryna clown - just curious.yo foo wrote:I know for a fact there are two norte hoods in South Oakland between Fruitvale and the Oakland Coliseum, and there is one Sureno set.

You forgot that Samoan gang out there in EPA SOS. I used to kicc it out there in EPAbayarearep wrote:you got midtown
differnet streets tho, DB, alberni, sac st etc
sac st is a norteno set, but it used to be both blood and nortenos...
East Menlo is where you'll see a lot of the Og's...on newbridge, hollyburne or severe
you got the ville, most crackin street out there is probably Illinois or C st...
you got the gardens, Cooley, Green, Sage, they used to be PLR, the older cats still claim this
and there's the flooda, not to familiar with that hood
also over the ramp, o'keefe, and there usede to be the over the ramp projects...lotta ese's over there now...
most the older Midtown heads claim blood, and i think it's the same with East Menlo, though the east menlo heads i roll with don't claim any colors
also you got TCG in the mid and in the ville

Yo .. I used to work in Sobrante and walked by a colonia of Asian Crips on 105th everyday. They're USOS? My homeboy told me they were Vietnamese or Cambodian, but I never interacted with 'em, so I might have been wrong. They didn't look as big as most Somoans I've come in contact with, though.bayarearep wrote:yeah i know there's usos from 11-5

Oakland aint full of bangers just hustlin ass niggas gettin paid, bitches hustle alot in the O too. I lived out there for a minute and worked off E14th st. and 47th ave. for a couple years. and it was all about gettin paid, SF was the same way. I was in the Bayview area off 3rd st. on Palou. The only bangin I used to see was in the Mission District. I know things were different in the Bay in the 90s but so was everywhere in CAli. Turfs aint trippin like they used to. But they do need to put in work with the norte and push out any sur fools, keep a foot on they necks, Birth Control.BabyHorus wrote:Gang bangers do not dominate the Bay Area, end of story. The wildest niggas out here don't bang, and those are the niggas you see on the block. Oakland has 75+ murders already this year! Most of the shit is just random violence, and a few of the Mexicans gangs but for the most part niggas out here kill over money and women. A lot of you cats get your info from the internet, I was raised in the flatlands of Oakland for over 13 years and I can tell you first hand.
Homeboy you need ta get out and travel then. Oakland aint what it used ta be. The first time I came to the O it was in 89-90? I stayed on the westside and the gunshots was crackin like Compton. It was crazy everywhere in the eastside and westside. Asians cats doin they thang also. Now its dunn cooled down 2000. You can go out ta Jack London or Lake Merrit or anywhere almost and kick it. You cant do that shit in Watts no where. Oakland is wild and shit and at night dont get caught slippin type of shit, but Hood LA is straight up dangerous 24\7.Rommel1990 wrote:All i know is that people in east oakland are the craziest niggas in the world. These niggas stomp the shit out of cars and be on the block like 100 deep real talk.

I guess Nortenos and Surenos are the only ones that ride around looking to bang on one another in Oakland. Oakland homicides have always been high in recent years over or near 100+ for many years for a city roughly 1/10 the population of L.A. although it's fluctuates from one year to the next, the homicides rate is a bit higher per capita then L.A.bgpride1 wrote:Oakland aint what it used ta be.
Jack London Square and Lake Merritt are Oakland safer areas, just like L.A has its safe/safer areas. Watts is probably L.A more dangerous area, but really, Compton is the closest parallel to Oakland in SoCal.

^ There's really no define border between the two, Norte goes from Sacramento (with some further Northern towns nowadays like Yuba City etc.) and to the south to Greenfield-King City area over to the Visalia-Tulare-Porterville-Corcoran area, if I'm not mistaken. though there may have been Norte varrios established at one time as far south as N.Bakersfield. I was told the Sureno stronghold goes from Santa Barbara to the Lancaster-Palmdale area to the Southern border.
There are many so-called Surenos above Bakersfield, however, most are fakes with no ties to SoCal. also, there few Nortenos below Bakersfield with no established Norte varrios.

richmond is the only city right now in the bay area that anybody seems to speak about with fear. like you'll hear people say they're scared of richmond or how they won't go there at night. east & west oakland held onto that rep for years but now i think it's shifted. oakland has always been diverse but some of the traditionally black areas are more mixed. everytime i ride through there it seems like it becomes less black than the last time i visit.bgpride1 wrote:Oakland aint what it used ta be.

$$$$$$ When I was in Oakland I didnt know to much about the O, but what I did know is that East and West was beefin with each other and that Richmond was beefin and holdin it down against both. I went through Richmond alot because at the time I would be in Pinole on the top side and San Pablo on the lower. Richmond is small and they still was trippin on the O. Richmond was more like So. Cal where people trip on sight and Oakland was more like Dope beefs and you aint from here type of crap, but no real trippin. Now in certain areas like Acorns,East O Seminary over, etc I wouldnt just hang at all. Its all the same though, either you in it or you aint.bayarearep wrote:the hood is still the hood
whether it be sunnydale, hunters point, deep east oakland, the low bottoms, or north richmond

I lived in both Richmond and Oakland. Oakland is no joke. It was just ranked the 4th most dangerous city in the nation, and Richmond was the 9th.jeff wrote:richmond is the only city right now in the bay area that anybody seems to speak about with fear. like you'll hear people say they're scared of richmond or how they won't go there at night. east & west oakland held onto that rep for years but now i think it's shifted. oakland has always been diverse but some of the traditionally black areas are more mixed. everytime i ride through there it seems like it becomes less black than the last time i visit.bgpride1 wrote:Oakland aint what it used ta be.
