The Black Hood Car

The motorcycle and car club scene in Southern Cal is growing and has globalized in recent years. They are not gangs, but many former gang members have got into them.

The Black Hood Car

What car do you think defines the Black man in the hood. What I mean by "in the hood" is that I am referring to hustlers, pimps and gangsters. Not celeberies, athletes and actors. So what car do you think defines this type of brother...what car is the status symbol????

In the south, I'd have to say the Chevy Caprice. Any model year, it dosen't matter, cause they're everywhere down here.

this is interesting, Chevy Caprice Classic, Lincoln Continental, and Cadilac Fleetwood Brougham thus far. I might actually do a poll on this. Could this be a issue of geography, that in certain parts of the US, the car culture has impacted Blacks in different ways? Is there a "car" for the pimp player hustler? or can one not boil it down to "a car"? Any other cars?

I think that the cars you mentioned Mysone are the new generation. I dont think too many players and pimps where driving 87 or 88 Buick Regals. But what would have been the main car in the 1980s?????? Thats is an interesing questions because more cars got popular.

But I am more interested in the period from about 1958 - 1972.

Back in "the day" no self respecting pimp would ever be caught dead in anything but a tricked out Caddy or Lincoln.

In the midwest, i'd have to say, it's Caddys by far, but you see alot of Old school cars, like lincolns, bel aires Impals, or and the Chevey caprice is real popular, because it is very easy to steal, im talkin about the caprice models from 83, to 91

In Nor-Cali bay area is THe Scraper. A scraper is a buick or oldsmobile(mostly buicks) 86 and up. THe miid 90's are the most popular years. We put dubbs on them, candy paint, 4 12 or 2 15 whatever. And suction pipes on exhaust. Example- buick park avenue, regal, lesabre, bonnevile etc.

i see alot of ford crown victorias in chicago, used cop cars,, they just sell those B's off a dime a dozen. down around like 79th and state street i believe.
and chevy caprice. i wouldn't mind having one myself, if you get one and the title sais "chevy" and nothing else in the description you can convert them to impala by changing the trim and bank by reselling it.
that and you can fit LT-1 motor out of a corvette or camaro.

each city might have a difference some of the hustlas/ballas might wanna be in something luxury like a bmw or rover ...then other cities like the good cheap vehicle that you can hook up & kit out without paying alotta paper...i know the hustla hood car is caprice classic or a ford crown victoria (basically 2 vehicles) so niggahs is in the hood not knowing whose who because detectives, cops drive around in the same plain cars behind tint
