Nearly 100 people have been arrested in Austria and Macedonia on suspicion of being part of a Macedonian-led heroin trafficking ring.

The ring, dubbed the "Frankfurt Mafia" because of its German connections, allegedly smuggled drugs into Austria and Germany via various channels.

An Austrian police chief said it was "one of the biggest blows against organised drug crime in Europe".

Of the arrests, 69 were made in Vienna in recent months and 29 in Macedonia.

Six of those detained in Macedonia are said to be organisers of the ring.

Several of the detainees owned apartments in Vienna and Frankfurt that were allegedly used for distribution of drugs to lower-level dealers.

Homes and restaurants owned by group members were searched and a large amount of money and drugs was found, Macedonian police said.'

'Extremely brutal'
Col Michael Mimra of the Vienna crime department told reporters on Thursday that the traffickers had taken control of the heroin trade in Vienna "in a short period of time".

The ring, described as "extremely brutal", forced out competitors "through violent intimidation".

EU governments agreed earlier this year to step up action against the trafficking of heroin and cocaine into Europe, saying the illegal trade brought in "colossal" profits for criminals.

Heroin largely enters the EU through its eastern borders and Macedonian and other Balkan states have long been favoured routes for traffickers.

According to the latest EU data available, eight tonnes of heroin was seized in the EU and Norway in 2008.

Heroin and related drugs were present in the majority of drug-induced deaths reported in the EU this year, the European Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Drug Addiction reports.

In addition, the fat one's father is living in freedom. Just another example of how the Macedonian government's fight against organized crime is a politically motivated Hollywood movie.

DRUGS | 24.12.2010
Police in three countries take on 'Frankfurt Mafia' drug ring

Drug smuggling has become a big problem in Macedonia
Police in Austria, Germany and Macedonia say they've dealt a major blow against a Macedonia-based drug gang which they say is responsible for most of the heroin trade in Frankfurt and Vienna.

A joint operation involving Austrian, German and Macedonian police this week broke up a major drug ring in Central and Eastern Europe, resulting in dozens of arrests.

Authorities in Vienna on Thursday said police in Austria and Macedonia had conducted coordinated raids on Wednesday and arrested 29 people suspected of being gang ring-leaders. They said that since their coordinated effort began in 2007, police have made more than 300 arrests in Germany and 69 in Austria.

Officials said the gang is based in Macedonia and quickly took over the heroin trade in Frankfurt and Vienna by violently forcing out rival gangs. The ring has been dubbed the Frankfurt Mafia and is especially active in the German banking center and in the Austrian capital.

The cities are at the end of what the United Nations has called the "Balkan Route," along which heroin from Afghanistan is smuggled into Western Europe via Bulgaria, Macedonia, Serbia and other Balkan countries before ending up on the streets of Western Europe's major cities.

Ongoing operation

Police traced the heroin all the way back to Afghanistan

General Franz Lang, who heads the Austrian Bureau of Criminal investigation, said the operation had been underway for months.

"I believe this is the biggest-ever hit that we've carried out in Austria and neighboring countries," he said. "It concerns a very dangerous group - with effective structures - well organized."

According to police, the Frankfurt Mafia was able to penetrate the market so quickly by selling high-quality heroin at what was described as a reasonable price. Their profit in Vienna alone was estimated at 80,000 euros ($105,000) a day.

Lang said that while heroin was the gang's main business, it was also involved in other criminal activity.

"The group was successful in organizing transport out of Afghanistan," he said. "And of course other crimes go along with that - from extortion to robbery to smuggling."

Justice officials in Vienna said their investigation was continuing and more arrests were likely.

On a side note, lol, European police agencies could never admit the fact that Balkan organized crime groups - especially ones with Macedonian leadership or the central structure being traced to Macedonia - simply do not work on any traditional - be it horizontal or vertical hierarchy.

The most effective technique these groups possess is the priceless and ageless tactic of confusion. That's it. Deception is the key. We're masters in ruse. This works hand in hand with basic procedures regarding the inception of fear into the target's mind. The more you repeat the same ideology to a certain individual or group of individuals, it just simply imprints and becomes evident. It's basic human psychology. The easiest tactic is the swarm one - usually possessing at least 5 or 6 people that have constant and daily contact with the target individual and create an atmosphere of trust first, in this case the person begins to trust and rely on the group for emotional or psychological support in any case but in turn the group makes him question his sanity. As soon as that first thought of 'things aren't going right' pops into his head and he begins to question the nature of his reality and his relationships, endgame. Period. He loses all credibility. He becomes completely gullible and controllable.

We can create a structure that is a complete decoy. We can lead you down a path that by the time you notice you've been using the wrong tactics to sniff out the wrong events, people or places, we would have been ready for a new round.

Practically all of these gangsters grow up with the same people in the same BS environment. They learn tons - even the way authority operates.

The more time you spend with Macedonians the more you'll notice the reason why we constantly talk in code and between the lines - because everything you say or even your facial expressions are completely telepathic to other Macedonians.

Not because of the psychology..but because of the mentality. They re-create you so they know what you want. But the more you're like us, the harder it is for us to control you because the more you know how we do that.

'Macedonian-led' heroin ring 'Frankfurt Mafia' broken up, 400 arrests in Europe

Austrian police say a huge Macedonian-led heroin-trafficking ring has been dismantled in a joint operation involving some 400 arrests.

Dubbed the "Frankfurt Mafia" because of its connections to Germany's financial capital, the ring allegedly controlled the heroin market in Vienna.

It was "one of the biggest blows against organised drug crime in Europe", an Austrian police chief said.

Arrests were made in Germany, Austria and Macedonia, going back to 2007.

Of these, some 300 were made in Germany, 69 in Vienna over the past 13 months, and 29 in raids in Macedonia on Wednesday.

The ring sold heroin for between 30 euros (£25, $39) and 40 euros. The authorities seized 170kg (375lb) of heroin in Germany and 26.3kg in Austria, Austrian police said.

"We noticed that this organisation was so good that it was able to replace large quantities of high-quality heroin within days," Austrian security official Franz Lang told reporters.

Usually they hold them for questioning, then deport them. Alot of the lower level traffickers are junkies, and usually known junkies in their communities at that. There's several groups in Veles, and there's many more sub-groups in other Macedonian towns that operate for that town, recruit, etc. that centralize around the groups in Veles. Either way, they pick Veles for it's geographical location, it's right in the center of Macedonia, they could distribute in all directions from there, kind of like a headquarters for the BS and propaganda.

Even then, one of the bosses from Veles is currently under the protection of the Bulgarian mafia and in asylum I won't say where(well the Bulgarian mafia pulls the strings when it comes to all the major Macedonian kingpins and bosses anyways).

All the other jack-offs have protection from elsewhere, like the Albanians and their circles. One of the main commanders of the Lions may he rest in peace was involved with the Miyalkov brothers from the Czech Republic and half the Ukrainian mafia. Some of the Vlach bosses on the other hand are partners of the Onassis dynasty, and then maybe Lukoil. Who knows, speculation is worthless. Facts can be denied.

Macedonians have more or less time to fuck around. Small place, easier to corner and destroy the competition without the use of violence - like bankruptcy for example and just plain old exclusion. Bulgarians don't fuck around. They blow up houses. If you look at it from a practical point of view, there's always a family link between the Macedonian bosses and the Bulgarian bosses. It just happens to be. The biggest boss in the Eastern Macedonia(also the main drug trafficker/kingpin ever since the early 90's) is the cousin of

Very colorful. The same circle involved with Mogilevich and them...

Not to mention the Bulgarian counterpart in the link is an arms dealer who was criticized by Putin for selling to the Georgians....

But unlike Iliya Pavlov, Putin can't have him killed.
