Hague acquitted former police officer Johan Tarculovski prematurely, only Macedonian citizen convicted of war crimes after he served two thirds of his sentence.
International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia, on Monday announced that Tarculovski, after serving eight of his 12-year sentence, will be released.
Last month, after two-thirds of his sentence, he formally acquired condition for early release.
With this in mind, "I think Tarculovski should now be released," the ICTY President Theodor Meron.
It is still not clear exactly when he will be released from custody.
In July 2008, the ICTY sentenced former police commander Tarculovski for war crimes committed during the 2001 conflict in Macedonia, between Macedonian security forces and ethnic Albanian rebels.
He was found guilty of running a police unit that killed a group of civilians, ethnic Albanians and perform other crimes in the village of Ljuboten, near Skopje.
The court acquitted Tarculovski supervisor, former Interior Minister Ljube Boskovski, who was charged with command responsibility.
Although Tarculovski was convicted of war crimes, part of Macedonian citizens see it as national hero, unjustly imprisoned for defending their country.
Hope for early release Tarculovski emerged after the end of 2012, acquittals were handed down to former KLA commander Ramush Haradinaj and two former Croatian generals Ante Gotovina and Mladen Markac.

The new Macedonian minister of defense is an ex commander of the Albanian terrorist group - Ushtria Clirimtare Kombetare or National Liberation Army - the Macedonian equivalent of the Kosovo Liberation Army.
