Couldn't agree more, with all of them.

I don't know much about T. Rodgers, what he's about in life, but he's an intelligent man at the very least and him and the other Bloods in this video are absolutely right.

There's a youtube out there of Monster Kody Scott saying basically the same thing about Ice Cube...instead of pretending to be a Crip, save some Crips from the hood. Funny thing is, Ice Cube never said he was a Crip. And he hardly dresses like one. Yet, he got the attention of some veteran Crips somehow. So, if gang members get offended by rappers even subtly aligning themselves with gangs, you can imagine the disrespect they feel when someone's outright claiming their gang and waving the flag, when they live in West Hollywood and don't have to face any of the dangers that gang members do, as the one guy said.

Good video. Is it part of a bigger documentary film? If so, what's it called?

What do you mean the way Boyz n the Hood is put out? It's a movie. He's acting. The character he plays is a gang member, probably a Crip considering the wardrobe. He's supposed to act like a Crip, just like Joe Pesci is supposed to act like a mobster in Goofellas and Casino, even though he isn't one.

As far as him C Walking, I agree with you.

No, I mean on the movie cover...the way it's layed out with the title. (Cube grew up in a NHC area). Maybe it's just me being overly perceptive, but it seems like that's what it was going for.

Actually, you could be right. I never noticed that myself. And, that would be just as much on John Singleton as Ice Cube.

I have to tell you, I don't know about Singleton back in those days, either.

Watch the BoyzNtheHood special features. Singleton talks about how some guys from Jungles were trying to get on the set, and his security scared them away. That's doubtful. Maybe the police ran them off but no reputable gang in LA is being ran off by rent a cops, or especially a bunch of dudes in plain clothes. It obviously would have gotten ugly.

Then, he talks about Bloods starting trouble at a Boyz screening at a movie theater, and the Bloods subsequently being beat down. He boasts of how he saw ambulances heading back to the theater as they were driving away from it.

Then, of course, the villainous characters in Boyz N the hood obviously being Bloods, portraying Bloods as older guys preying on adolescents, all the while portraying Crips as people minding their own business, not starting problems but finishing them, etc.

I like John Singleton as a film maker. He is a genius. But it's obvious he was kind of a wannabe in his early days. To his credit, though, in Baby Boy he avoided the B/C drama altogether and only had rivaling Crips in the storyline. That's a much safer route to go when trying to capture modern day South Central then delving into the Crip vs. Blood thing, as long as he's not being specific with Crip gangs.

I don't think he does either. But I think he did get a little carried away in the Boyz N The Hood DVD special feature, where he talks about some of his Crip homies beating down some Bloods at a Boyz screening. JMO. There was no need for him to be specific. He also talks about his security punking some guys from Jungles off of his filming location. He could have just said they had to remove some guys who didn't have passes, whatever. He didn't have to talk about it all. But he did, and got specific. Doesn't mean he's a total wannabe or that he has some sort of agenda, it just means he gets a little full of himself sometimes just because he knows some Crips. That's all.
