Unread post by SkoobyDoo » August 28th, 2005, 2:39 pm

This is suppose to be the big one...bigger than any hurricane on record.

R.I.P. New Orleans.

Yeah, I heard even the superdome might not be able to withstand the winds. This is going to be truely sad if Katrina literally blows New Orleans of the face of the earth.

I heard there was a report of a 3-foot shark swimming down Bourbon street. Also all the guns have been cleaned out of Walmart & there are bands of armed people. From the pics, it looks like the end of the world.

My mother's cousin was able to evacuate. But she & her daughter got into an argument right before they were about to leave & her daughter refused to go with her. We don't know where she is right now. Her mother is hysterical.

That makes it especially sad to me. It seems similar to what happened to our ancestors after slavery ended. They had NOTHING, and had to make a life for themselves, just as our people in the south now have NOTHING, and have to make a life for themselves. If the “Big One”(Earthquake along San Andreas Fault) occurred our here in L.A., those of us out here would be in the same position; hopefully that doesn’t happen.

I donated to the Red Cross, but I wish there was more that I could do.

Some of those folks had no where to go. They also had no transportation. The N.O. is a poor city. Let's say some did get to Houston or whatever. Then what? Where do they go? Everything they had was in New Orleans.

Indeed. The news said that a lot of people who did leave town are going to shelters because they can't afford living in hotels & motels forever.

vacationing George and his admin dropped the ball big time on this one

all the downtrodden faces I see on the news are of Black Folks

katrina itself did not cause the main damage, it was afterwards
with the leevees breaking and he waters flodding in all those low
lying areas of the city

the government should of had a plan of evacuation in place long
before the storm hit and any contingency plans to deal with the
aftermath.

all those poor folks are without shelter, food, water, medical aid,
or anything to help them survive through these most difficult time

who were the criminals who allowed for all these neighborhoods to
be built below sea level?

some people at my work were complaining about the looting going on
but what else do these folks got to survive on?

the business owners are just going to write it all off as losses in their
insurance claims, so why blame people for grabbing what they can?

I hear that the crocs are swimming in the waters now as well as the
water snakes

imagine the pestilence that is now beginning to petrify the air and the
mosquitoes infestations, not to mention the water leeches

and those gas prices of $5+ per gallon are sure to keep rising and will
eventually reach the same through out the nation

the cost in suffering and monetary funds will at the end be staggering
and we will all feel it soon and will bare the cost for the bankrupt insurance
industry - it is sure to cost billions if not trillions of dollars

maybe now we should bring the troops back home from iraq and re-focus
our attention here at home, in our own backyard and help all these people
who have lost it all and face some real sad and painful times ahead

PLEASE EVERYONE, IF EVER YOU TOUGHT ABOUT HELPING OUT YOUR
HUMAN BETHREN "DO SO NOW" - "TODAY", DROP A QUARTER IN THE
BUCKET IF THAT IS ALL YOU GOT, BUT HAVE A HEART AND HELP OUT.
