Cops catch Falls man with loaded handgun
Roving Anti-Crime Unit officers arrested a Falls man on weapons charges after he drove the wrong way down a one way street to try to avoid them.
Robert Roy, 23, 3210 North Ave., was charged with third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, unlawful possession of marijuana and disorderly conduct.
RAC officers said they were leaving a traffic stop when Roy drove by them with the stereo system in his car “cranked.”
As the officers began to follow Roy’s car he made a turn on to Elmwood Avenue, driving the wrong way down the street. He finally stopped at 13th Street and Linwood Avenue.
The officers said as they looked into the car, they saw a loaded handgun lying on the floor by Roy’s feet. Roy told him he was carrying the gun because he had been robbed in the past

Falls woman reports rape on football field
NIAGARA FALLS — A 43-year-old city woman told police she was raped and robbed Monday night on the La- Salle Middle School football field.
The woman said she had gone to the school at 8 p.m. to drop off tickets at the concession stand and a man in his 20s, wearing a ski mask, struck her from behind in the head with a glass bottle, raped her, punched her in the head and arms, and took her jewelry.
She said the attack happened in front of the bleachers on the field. She told an officer and detectives the man told her he had a gun, but never showed it. She also said he used a cloth to gag her.
Detectives said Tuesday that the investigation was continuing.
