Philadelphia Gangs

Unread post by NorthPhilly » February 21st, 2009, 2:34 pm

Philadelphia, often caused the Murder Capital of the East Coast because of the high Homicide rate is also one of the capitals of gang life. Many people don't know that Philadelphia had a heavy gang prescence during the forming of the Bloods and the Crips on the West Coast. Not only that, but the city also started Gangsta Rap when Schooly D rapped "PSK" it inspired Ice T and other West Coast rappers to get in on it. What are your thoughts on this?

If you don't believe me, check out this Time article during the 70's. When LA was really getting into it with the Gang Culture and New York was doubling over with homicides, Philadelphia was setting a precedent with Gang Life

A big difference between Gangs in Philly and in other cities is that Gang Bangers in Philly are not flashy, in-your-face gangsters that other cities like Chicago and Los Angeles have. Bangers in Philly dont like to be seen, so theres really no reporting on all of the gang activity in the city. But if you live in the city, and you're in the streets like that, there's no doubt that theres a large gang presence all throughout Philly. Niggas are still reppin their blocks and set trippin by neighborhood.

95% of philly gangs are street/corner gangs.
you wont even know they exist unless you be on their blocks.

norris ALWAYS got it in, norris boys are the 1s who got gillie for his P chain a while back.

north side of Oregon got the drug gangs on every corner. so do westmor.
most back blocks along Allegheny have the corner drug/hustle gangs.
WAY too many to name, just don't get caught on one of those blocks with no firepower or you'll learn too quick the hard way.

this is the part that i noticed people from out of town don't relies unless told.
Like my cousins from out of town.
i told them *insertnamehere* squad got that block and then they ask me how deep they are.
when i said like 8-11 they gave me the crazy face and said "thats it?"
then i had to explain to them that on the very next strip another squad got that and they bout 8-11 dudes deep too and they cool with that crew.
so thats like 20 dudes that run with each other but rep different squads/blocks respectively.
or it could just be a team reping there block solo.
like BABYBRAZE said you wont even know they exist or who with who unless you be on their blocks.
