Moss Side in Manchester England
I visited there a few years ago and there was some loosely organized street gangs there.

I highly recommend this book Gang War.alexalonso wrote:I visited there a few years ago and there was some loosely organized street gangs there.
You wanna know about Manchester - get hold of it.
The Moss Side area of Manchester has to be one the places in the UK where you got all the violence which is usually unheard of in Europe, including drive-by-shootings, mass shoot-outs between teenage-(and not so teenage...)gangs.
Black as well as White gangs, usually based on neighbourhoods and most of the time connected to Organized Crime.
Other books on this website also recommended for a realistic insight of the British Subcultures and Crime-Underworld.

I have the book, but didnt read it yet. When I did go to Moss Side, i could see the group activity, but it didnt come off like a violent place, but I was looking it that place through my Los Angeles lenses. I did notice that most cars there had a security lock on the steering wheel, so my guess is that there is a lot of car theft in that area.

Re: Moss Side in Manchester England
Most of the street level is under the control of older organised crime figures.alexalonso wrote:I visited there a few years ago and there was some loosely organized street gangs there.
The youth are mainly footsoldiers and foolish tools of wiser and richer adults.
A few are now calling themselves 'bloods' or 'crips' but affiliation is generally linked to Organised Crime groups such as the Gooch and Doddington gangs.
The Salford 'gangs' are largely white (family based in many cases) and the Cheetham Hill gangs are mixed.
But lets not get confused..given the chance you will catch a bullet if you move in the right places.
Moss Side as a whole has grown less violent since they demolished most of the housing and replaced it with Yuppy apartments and growing industry. the people have been split across the region to spread their 'love' elsewhere.
Hope that helps, and questions and I will be glad to offer my information (first hand but retired lets say).
Rangers fans went nowhere near the area and were mainly located in Manchester town centre throwing bottles at idiot policemen.Jinky08 wrote:Rangers fans caused a bit of an uproar few weeks ago, Uefa cup final
Strange how when MUFC took 500 eager gentlemen to Rangers they walked around unapposed for 2 nights.
Then when Rangers had the chance to return the visit (claimign aid from CFC and Leeds) they did not show their faces.
Rangers may well have brought enough to fill a stadium when facing some backward Russians but when facing a real challenge they didnt bring enough to fill a taxi.
Do not believe everything you read in the newspapers gentlemen.
You´re right there mate. Firm-wise Rangers are no contest for the MiB. But taking 100.000+ lunatics and the whole population of several housing estates to another city (country if you like) has to be matched as well...Akane wrote:Rangers fans went nowhere near the area and were mainly located in Manchester town centre throwing bottles at idiot policemen.Jinky08 wrote:Rangers fans caused a bit of an uproar few weeks ago, Uefa cup final

I was using a digital camera made by Olympus in 1999 with 1.3 Mega Pixels, and all the photos looked like this. I never really like digital, but that "fake" look is from one of the first consumer digital camera's ever made. I think it was the 340r by Olympus and it cost $500 back then. I still have it, no but I was really in Mossside.Azure9920 wrote:No offence Alonso...but those pics look fake as hell lol.
