The way Rizzuto Jr. died and a few businesses getting lightly burned doesn't sound like something a haitian gang would do. It would of been more deadly like Rizzuto Jr. would be fill of bullet holes and the shops completely burned to the ground. Haitian gangs violence is semi-semilar to Jamaican Posse whose even more dangerous though.

You can't compare the Jamaicans and the Haitians to the Italians. There's over 100,000 dead in Haiti's capital.

True. But the Jamaicans are equally dangerous as the italians and what does the catastrophic crisis in Haiti have to due with this?

in the states although weaker than the past italian mafia is still far the strongest it's mean the other groups didn't gain any power or they barely did, no groups probably never will equal italian mafia power

90 guys in the Rizzuto organization being rounded up in 2006, including Vito Rizzuto himself and several of his top lieutenants, was certainly a big blow to them. The same way the big biker bust a few years before that was a big blow to the OMG's. And this may have left some degree of a vacuum in the Montreal underworld where other groups might try to stake their claim.

But that's all speculation at this point. We still don't know who was behind either the cafe bombings or the Rizzuto murder. And when I say "behind," I mean was it really a Haitian gang acting alone or was it others acting in cooperation with a break off mob faction?

People can come and talk about how mean and violent the Haitians are all they want. But at the end of the day, them fire bombing some cafes and killing Rizzuto doesn't necessarily give them the ability to fully step in and fill whatever void has been left by the Italian Mafia and the biker groups.

Double murder in Old Montreal
Police investigate clothing store owner’s ties to mafia

Friday, March 19, 2010 10:21am - 0 Comments
Two people were gunned down mid-afternoon in Old Montreal yesterday, a brazen (and bizarre) killing that is allegedly tied to the shooting death of mobster Nicolo Rizzuto Jr. Two gunmen entered Flawnego, a women’s clothing store in the chic strip of St Jacques in Old Montreal and shot dead Peter Christopoulos and an unnamed victim. The alleged target, Flawnego owner Joseph Ducarme, managed to escape. Ducharme is reputed to have ties to Montreal’s underworld, notably as a bagman for construction magnate Antonio Magi, an associate of Rizzuto, who was gunned down in late December. Christopoulos is alleged to have been Ducharme’s bodyguard.
