This is the forum for those who believe that there are other options to gangs and violence and hope to see young people make better choices about their future. Where does change begin?

The park down the street from my house has been going under a really expensive remodel over the past year. Today was the opening day and they had a big party/dedication ceremony. The one thing missing compared to the way it was before is that they removed all the basketball courts, and some old guy who worked at the park said it was to keep the riff-raff trouble makers away.

It used to have like 8 courts, now there is a big new playground in that spot.

This type of modification may keep trouble makaz away but its just gonna place them somewhere else, like outside your house, down your back alley, its gonna take away there freedom to play ball so they be bored. It will probably cause more trouble than reduce it.

What are things like since they remodelled the park?
