Sorry. I still read from the right charts, Oakland is a high crime area. I can't find 2003 stats though fro Oak Town. Here' 2002

Oakland CA Crime Statistics (2002 - New Crime Data)

Crime Type 2002 Total Per 100,000 People National per 100,000 People
Overall Oakland Crime Index 29875 7213.38 4118.8 Almost 2X
Oakland Murders 108 26.08 5.6 5X the Murder Rate
Oakland Forcible Rapes 249 60.12 33.0 Amost 2X
Oakland Robberies 2452 592.04 145.9 @About 4X
Oakland Aggravated Assaults 2852 688.62 310.1 @ 2X
Oakland Burglaries 4252 1026.65 746.2
Oakland Larceny/Thefts 13703 3308.62 2445.8
Oakland Motor Vehicle Thefts 6259 1511.25 432.1 @Almost 4X
Oakland Arsons 354 85.47 N/A

Oakland is definitely one of the worse cities, but I think they were number 4 or something like that last year.

Yall gonna trip when I say this, but as bad as oakland "might have been these past few years, does not even compare to the 10 year period between 1985-1985. this was when oakland was at it's worst. they averaged 150-175 murders. 26 straight years of 100 or more murders. but actually break these murders down is how you get a real stat. 75% of these murders were over the lucrative drug trade between rival black crews. If you controlled the dope in oakland, you controlled the bay. controll the bay and you have all of nor cali.

according to the news that ive seen on univision a few days ago it said its stockton, i might be wrong thats why i'm trying to find the stats for 2004 cause its a lot different than it was 2 years ago its worse, the population is growing fast cause stockton is like a farm town bigger than modesto and i think it outnumbers modesto now in population, its growing fast, its a big low income town, lodi is a lil town connected to stockton its pretty crazy there, controlled by surenos, stockton has both nortenos & surenos.

Most Dangerous 10:

1 Camden, NJ (Okay I know some EC know about NJ step up)

"Cambell's Soup packed up and left. They ain't really hard, they just broke as all get out. I will say that when Camden High School comes to play your team in basketball you'd best have your heavy hitters with you because they bring like 5-10 busloads...erybody down for whatever."

7 Trenton, NJ (I've been there.)

"It's cool in Trenton. It's more on a "pimp/playa" type thing than being savage beasts. Plus it's the capital so it's plenty legal money to be made there."

Oh yeah, I'm from Atlantic City we used to be hard but it's tough being hard when you making $27 dollars per hour dealing cards.

Lodi's crazy? not hardly. Lodi is 55,000, Stockton is 260,000 and modesto is 203,000 in population. Stockton has always been bigger in population than modesto. Modesto was catching up back in the 80's than stockton just blew up....

I am from East Saint Louis, Illinois about 2 minutes away from St. Louis and Saint Louis is not one of the toughtest cities in the U.S. It is far from that. You do not hear about gang violence. It is not prominent as LA. The fact of the STL being #2 is definitely wrong!

I believe anonymousman might be correct that Stockton was the toughest city in 2003. If you've ever been to Stockton, you'd probably agree with those statistic's. A couple other town's would be Oakland & Compton! (anonymousman) Lodi is far from being a sureno controlled town....LOL..........................~DreamerGirl~

well STL having 120 homicides in one year doesn't help your case much...

lodi is right next to stockton its almost considered stockton, kind of like keys and turlock, everyone from keys likes kicking it in turlock, everyone from lodi likes kicking it in stockton. i go to lodi all the time, galt too i know its controlled by surenos not like its something good or anything but i'm there a lot of time so i know whats up, i rarely see a norteno there, it reminds me of atwater.

U took the words rite out my mouth.....4 example in NYC all the hoodz r pretty segragated. So U would have these small hoodz...majority black and latino with all the problems and headaches while the rest of NY is sweet as taffy. Don't get me wrong..I like taffy and their r some good black and latino neighborhoods out here. So don't believe the hype.

4 Camden, NJ
5 Washington, DC
6 Compton, CA
7 Dayton, OH
8 Baltimore, MD
9 Tampa, FL
10 Gary, IN
11 Memphis, TN
12 North Charleston, SC
13 New Orleans, LA

18 Youngstown, OH
19 Cleveland, OH
20 Springfield, MA
21 Oakland, CA
22 Birmingham, AL
23 Miami, FL
24 Richmond, CA

(2003) 350 CITIES 500,000+ Population. Next Post is the Metro Stats.

That's a trip because your list has Compton on it which does not have anywhere near 500,000+ population (more like 120k?). Good info though, and you are right about your 2nd list, Louisiana looks like they have real problems (4 outta top 11....damn).
