Spider Web Tattoos

Ok I am having an arguement with this cat. He says a spider web tattoo on the elbo means that the person did time.

I say that it means that in the past, the person was somehow "trapped"...whether it be from drugs, jail, or just trapped in the lifestyle. So it could mean that the cat was in prison, but it could mean other things too.

Your thoughts?

Well, the spider web tattoo can mean any thing:
1. You've killed, hate, or hit a visible minority
2. Drug or substance abuse addiction
3. Jail Time (prison tat)

In the 80's I would occassionaly see more than one pretty girl in Huntington Beach who had a spider web covering about 1/4 of their face. Pretty crazy.

I used to be an english prison thing, back in the 30s and 40s when no one had tattoos unless they were sailors or ex-cons. A spider web was normally slapped on your elbow if u were doing long bird.

Don't know what it means in america, but over here not many people have it except ex-cons and gays, who do it as an 'ironic statemant' or whatever.

I spoze it's like the teardrop, where a few years ago it's if u were in jail and a loved one died, you'll have an extra teardrop tatted, but now everyone has it.

This dude that plays for the Chicago Bulls, I can't remember his name, has a spider web on his elbow. He is black. Also spider web tats means you're trapped, or you're collecting dust(such as doing time)

I've only seen this on bikers and skinheads.

The "doing time" explanation sounds the most logical, but the one I was told was that the person had killed before.

Usually means jail time. These days everyone is getting tats, even banger tats when they arn't in a gang.

The webs used to signify jail time...generally someone had to have done more than 5 years and each "circle" in the web signified a year in prison.

That was with the biker gangs anyway.

Now people just think they look cool.

Over here the Surs use spider webs on their elbows, and Brown Pride uses eagles. I've seen
a tat of an eagle with both wings spread holding a B in his right talon and a P in his left with a ripped web in his mouth. It almost looks like a torn cloth. As a matter of fact the guy that had the tat just dropped out of Antioch last year. There is a Sur clicc known as Sur 13 in the school and a homie named Angel has the web tat. He says it represents being Trapped in a Thugs Life. I dunno though, it probably jus has many meanings....
