most nations are represented by stars (especially in chi-town)

Peoples Nation - 5 point star
under them certain Stones nations likes BPS and LS and Mad Stones, Latin Kings,Vice Lord Nations, UBN (east coast established Bloods), almighty popes, Zulu Nation

6 Point star - Folk Nations including various crip associated sets

8 point star - nation of gods and earths, certain vicelord and stone sets

thats all i talk on for now

I think it should have a different meaning in connection with white rockabilly gangs, but thanks for your information!

There's a book called Russian Criminal Tattoo Encyclopedia:

http://www.campusi.com/isbn_3882439203.htm

Check this link out right here

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/shared/spl/hi/p ... html/1.stm

I flipped through this book and they had some explanation on that star. i don't remember what it was though, but I'm pretty sure it was originally a prison / political thing

that is a nautical star,
alot of punk rockers are into them. my brother has 2 one on each wrist but he also has some regular stars going around his arm,,,
well i just asked him and he said they don't mean anything.

That type of star is a nautical star found on old sailor's maps; but today it is symbolized by mostly punk-rockers i.e. Travis Barker of Blink 182.

if it were a 5-6 point star, then it would be different.

An eight pointed star, that looks like the symbol on old map compasses represents a class of "zakonyi vor" which literally translates to "Thief by Law" it has the same meaning in the russian mob as a "made man" in the italian organization.

Russian prison tattoos are often of religious things, because i soviet times religion was outlawed and that showed like a rebelion toward the government and law. Another reason, my dad told me, is that the prisoners recieved routine beatings and sometimes having a religious icon tattood on you prevented the guards to strike that area.

I've seen the five pointed star on many Wiccan's and a girl that has the stars on her shoulders told me it signifies being wild in bed. she told me "they mark the holding places during her favorite position" I tested the theory. LOLLL

old nautical sailor tattoo it dealt with either A)crossing the timeline or the number of miles you have sailed. The swallow tattoo has similar meaning

Ive got 5 pointed stars over my elbows, basically it comes from the sailors tattoos that they used to do, now people especially rockabilly and punks use those designs. Some people say they mean you are good in bed and the more you have the better you are, but really its a sailor tradition.

5 pointed stars, as noted, represent the Peoples Nation and each of its branches use the star in various ways, its origin stemming from Islam.

6 pointed stars, as also noted, represent the Folks Nation, and its branches use the star differently, its origin stemming from homage to David Barksdale, one of the GD's founders (GD=Gangster Disciples, the primary branch of the Folks Nation). There are Crips that use the star, but they are not supposed to do so.

Many Crips also believe they are supposed to use the 8 pointed star, out of reverence to the 8-Ball treaty (which was a fallacy). They aren't.

Jewish thingy, Star of David, in honor of David Barksdale, they dont operate under hebrew lore though, most of them are satanic, hence the pitchforks.

The crescent and 5 pointed star is the islamic symbol, and that is what is used by the Peoples Nation.
