I don't know if this can be claimed solely as "Soul Food," but my most favorite of all soul food items, if I had to choose one, would be barbecued pork ribs!!!

When it comes to Jamaican food i like oxtail, ackee/saltfish, curry goat, cowfoot soup, jerk chicken/pork/fish, Jamaican Chinese fried rice, tripe and beans, okra stewed, pumpkin stew, bok choy, spinach stew, etc.

When it comes to Asian food though, i really relate to Vietnamese food. Like Vietnamese curry chicken with cassava, oxtail pho/curried soup, snapper or king fish, steamed okra, steamed melon stew, pumpkin stews, bok choy, bitter melons, etc.

I also as a Jamaican person relate to the Vietnamese/SOuth East Asian tropical fruits and vegitables like= sugar cane(cane juic rules!), soursop fruit, jackfruit, mangoes, cassava, yam, plaintains, young coconut, tamerinds, starfruit, okra, bittermelons, ginger root, a plant that resembles calalloo, and man theres so much more i can't remember right now.

My girlfriend introduced me to Southern Vietnamese food (she's Viet ;)) and it kind of reminds me of my Jamaican food back home in yard. My fathers Chinese food is a little different though, maybe cause its Chinese Jamaican cooking????

Thats my original Island/South East Asian soul food to me though. LOL
