Help with making computergame

Unread post by Anders H » August 9th, 2005, 12:57 pm

Hi,

we're a bunch of IT-students from Denmark (Europe), who are making a game inspired on the gangwars in LA in the mid-1990. The game is a teambased modification to Battlefield 2. We're starting out easy with making new models for the players, new vehicles, new weapons and new maps, but later on we plan to implement some rules about drugssales, b&e and carthefts. Eventually we wan't to create a game, where your ranking in the gang decides your part of the cut and where you can use your money on tattoos, jewelry, cars, weapons, clothes etc.

Right now we're researching it and we need some help. The only person on our team, who knows anything about streetgangs is one of our graphics-artist who grew up in a USA-city, but we have lot of questions about streetgangs.

Could any of you help us out with it? you'll be credited as consultant on the game; however we're all volunteers so we can't pay you.

The game is going to be released for PC as a mod for free. It requires Battlefield 2 to play.

/Anders

Well, what are your questions. And what does b&e mean?

Second: what music did you listen to?

The guy wearing the stripes with the hat looks like he is holding an AR-15.

I can't tell if the short guy is pointing a Desert Eagle or a Luger.

I would not want to meet these guys on the street.

Oh, shit!!!!!! Too bad you have to have battlefield 2 to play, my computer is crappy and the otherone is fucced but better and the otherone is new but slow as hell and the graphics are not going to work. By the way the new one is dell 2400 series i think. When i truned it on and did the setup this it was slow as hell and i was saying: "FUCCCC!!!!!!!!!!!!" cause i fuccin spent around 600 bucks for a damn computer straight from the site, but i added some features. And now its fucced up and slow, i added some more memory though and its still slow, there is noooo way i can play that game on that computer, it will be too slow. It might not even work.

It may be a miniuzi, maybe not a desert eagle or a luger.

B&E : Breaking & Entering (allthough we're not quite sure how to handle the "entering"-bit-gameplay-wise).

My first idea for a name was "gangbanging"....but I figured that it could be misunderstood, so I changed to "In the Hood". I might change it again.

The mod is going to be released for free; so as soon as it's done, I'll post some links to a place where you can download it. But you do need Battlefield 2 to play it and that can be a fairly demanding program...:I can't even run it myself on this machine.

As soon as the production is running, we'll make a website about it. But I'll post some graphics in here as soon as we have any. Son't worry; I'll keep you posted...

and thanks for all the info; it's really great and just what we need.
