Filipinotown is the part where Detective Alonzo Harris pulls over the college kids who just bought the drugs from the Hillside gangsters.

Also filmed in filipinotown is the part where Alonzo stops the car in the middle of an intersection, pulls his gun on Officer Jake Hoyt, and tells him to smoke the drugs they just confiscated from the college kids...

I don't speak Russian but always wondered what they are saying at the end of the movie right after they smoke Alonzo Harris.

Ahh.. he didn't tell me that! Lol.. Now I know thanks to you bro. Yes he was over with Calvary Chapel helping.

I'm safe in the Lord. Of course I could still get hit by a car crossing the street or offed by being in the wrong place at the wrong time ROFL! You never know about things like that. Peace. :)

Thought I would go ahead and post a review here just because:

A powerhouse performance by Denzel Washington fuels this brutal urban police drama, in which a rookie narcotics cop learns the hard way that even good cops can go very, very bad. Washington plays veteran detective Alonzo Harris, a self-proclaimed "wolf among wolves," eager to teach his rookie partner Jake (Ethan Hawke) that normal rules don't apply on the mean streets of Los Angeles. Caught in a web of deception, Jake watches with escalating horror as Alonzo uses his badge (and the support of his superiors) to justify a self-righteous policy of corruption. In stark contrast to most of his previous work, Denzel unleashes his dark side with fearlessness and fury, and the result is excellence without compromise. Director Antoine Fuqua (The Replacement Killers) won't score any points for subtlety, but gritty details (including actual L.A. gang members as extras) and Hawke's finely tuned performance are perfectly matched to Washington's frightening volatility. --Jeff Shannon --This text refers to the Theatrical Release edition.

Unread post by Ice » December 21st, 2003, 4:58 pm

ok, i just watched the whole movie on tv and this is what i got from what the russians said at the end:

first they start shootin, then a guy say "Stop!"

alonzo comes out of the car and the russian guy says: "Now it's all over"

then: "He's gonna choke"

then he says: "You dont die easy alonzo, do u?"

and then: "Blast him!"

thats it...pretty short and meaningless monologue but i kept my promise lol

In the alternate ending, the three guys (the, Detective, and one other) show up at Jake's house and ask him for the $1,000,000. (His evidence)

Yeah Bone he's an Athens Park Blood/Jungles. He said he got his start as an Production Assistant with the help of Jim Brown....well he talks about all of that in this interview he did not long ago. http://articles.findarticles.com/p/arti ... i_98464688. He also did an short interview on the Training Day site http://www.trainingday.net where he talked about how he thought filming the movie in the Jungles and other areas brought the community together.
