I'm a laid back cat don't like to fight but I be damn if I let anybody swing on me. I would put my best poker face on and go for what I know. But some niggas dont know when to run, I know a dude who fought 5 dudes and he got his azz stomp like he was dirt. Now I would fight my way out but a smart nigga know when to run. But if its one on one then bring it. I rather get beat fightin.

If he hit me, i'd give him some right hands that he'd scream from. And he does look like a pro wrestler because they look that big on TV.

being a bouncer changes the way you act 24/7.. and after a while i see more boucners become the trouble makers.. rather than stopping the trouble..

check out geoffthompson.com his books and articles are pretty sweet (you can get some free stuff from his site):
Depressed, bullied, intimidated by life and indoctrinated to believe that this was his lot, Geoff Thompson, on the verge of a breakdown, decided to fight back. In a bid to confront his fears, he took a job as a bouncer in one of Britain’s roughest nightclubs.

His life was never to be the same again.

Over the next ten years, and after being involved in hundreds of brutal and bloody fights that left two of his friends murdered and many more in prison, the bullied 11 stone youth turned himself into a fearsome fighting machine with an unparalleled reputation as a knockout specialist. Seduced by beautiful women, attacked by maniacs with knives, guns (and a pair of garden shears), chased and locked up by the police and sought after by top establishments to ‘clean up’ their clubs, Geoff reached the top of his trade and became addicted to violence.

Then it all changed.

After being stabbed, glassed and nearly killed in a gang attack, and almost killing one of his attackers in a savage car park match-fight, he was forced to reassess his relationship with violence. After writing down his experiences in an effort to exorcise his demons, Geoff discovered a flair for writing. Within a few short years his work found a cult following all over the world.

This is the story of an ordinary man who faced his fears and took himself from bedsit to bestseller but very nearly got killed on the way.

Geoff Thompson made violence his profession working as a doorman at some of Britain’s roughest clubs. As the holder of the rank of 6th Dan black belt in Japanese karate, 1st Dan in Judo and equally well qualified in other martial arts he is a TOUGH man. As well as many books he has written a film script, Watch My back, based on his life and a stage play, One Sock, that inspired The Royal Court Theatre in London’s West End to invite him into their exclusive writers’ group. WATCH MY BACK is his account of nine years as a doorman and bouncer, of living with the ever present fear of going too far and killing someone in any of the 300 violent and bloody confrontations.

I think being a bouncer makes some feel more like a man, but they dont realize that sometimes just talking things out is better. Because i feel some or so quick to fight just to show the other dude that they are tougher then him. I think they get a rush out of that like what people get out of drugs. But it will take a person to kill they big ass, in most cases only way to get him to stop for good.

I saw this movie on Showtime a while back and that Jordan Maldonado guy is just a big bully. The guy looked like he could fight and would probably beat me down but he's working in an upscale Manhattan nightclub pounding on yuppies. It was him and two other huge guys pounding on some drunk ass little yuppie white dude as they threw him out. The guy wasn't even being aggressive they were just hitting him for no reason. If he is so bad and ready to die in a fight why doesn't he work a club where he can really see some action. What would happen to this guy if he took that attitude to a nightclub where gangsters party

I read in Ronin Ro's book on Death Row that Suge Knight got into it with a bouncer in L.A. beat him down and ruptured his spleen. I think the book said the other bouncers couldn't stop him or were scared to get involved or something.

Good points. My experience with the bouncers I knew at SoCal clubs back in the day, before I got saved and found worthwhile things to do with my life, was that most of them were just looking for the same things I was in those days: free alcohol, rent money, and a good fight where you don't end up being the guy in jail.

Honestly, they and I were a shallow narcissitic lot that liked everything fast. A LOT of fronting went on in the day with 80% not being that tough for the most part, in my opinion.

But today you have some that really tend their business though. Things are a lot more technical now and people are in the now regarding their skills. I would think you could today find some real pros putting in that work; even bodyguard quality. Just my 2 cents peeps and I'm very glad that I moved on years ago to investing myself in people's lives instead of trying to kick their as_s in some parking lot over a forgotten drunken point of honor or whatever. Peace.

Bouncers.. I think that the majority of them, even these days, aren't much. The way I see it, somebody with real skills is probably not going to be in that line of work. The clubs that can hire somebody with skills are probably not going to be the kind of place where trouble breaks out often. There's always the exception-some rough axe dude who doesn't care about the money, or some place that's so crazy they have to hire people who know what they're doing..

A lot of bouncers are still chunky dudes or pretty boy meatheads who are in it for the alcohol, chicks, and to throw down with drunk people who don't have their wits about them. Whatever the case, it's rare that I see a bouncer who has the skills and the maturity to take care of business w/o coming off like a bully.

Yes you're right about the local juke joint bar pool hall 2 step hip hop trap whatever. Of course I don't go to those places anymore but I'm sure the same type of person is still attracted to the job.

HOWEVER the advent of Mixed Martial Arts, access to information, training, and networking as a result of the net has made some bouncers at the more upscale venues that I personally have run in to since the 70's and 80's much better at their game. They train real world and trade information. I'm not talking about your local Irish watering hole.

Lol.. this thread is getting funnier by the day haha. Ok that guy there.. hmm.. get past the drunken right and pull a double leg take down (forehead to body), take the mount (he probably doesn't know what a guard is so there won't be anything to pass), and then finish with a submission. Be sure to make him PROMISE to pick up the tab before letting him go. Haha.. everything I'm posting right now is just in good fun. Oh and watch out for the leatherman all purpose utility knife on his belt.
