Yeah I felt that they should of included why he had become a crip and why everything led up to his prison time. Good message but bad movie.

Yea.It was great.Of course, you're gonna get alot of young cats on this board who wanted more violence and shit, but straight up,it was outstanding.I'm sure Tookie was proud of it himself. It definently showed him in a positive light, the fact he turned his life around.

When i sat down to watch the movie i assumed the 1st half would remind me of colors. I was surprisingly shocked it went a different direction. I thought the film was well done. I think if they would have gone the other way with violence and such throughout the movie, the purpose of it would have been lost.

yeah, even in prison it coulda explained more. it showed when he went in and hit the yard 1 time. Then it flashed forward like 10 years. Only since they were never telling you what year they were showing, it was hard to tell how much time was really passing. Coulda been a year, coulda been 10 between meeting that writer and writing the book, who knows. I think it was pretty shi--y. Like I said. It was like watching part 2 of something without seeing the first movie.

I think the movie moved a little too slow for alot of people. Most people i spoke with really wasn't too inspired by the movie. The common reply was "It was o.k."

That's kind of hard for me too believe. Even though nobody might not give a damn about Tookie, but I thought at least people would be interested in learning how such crazy mayhem could start in the inner city of L.A. and reach a world wide violence.

I think that's what people wanted to see, but it didn't show anything of the sort. It showed (barely) 1 fight, 1 "rumble", and he punched a guy in prison. These were the only scenes that were supposed to show us how 30 kids turned LA into a war zone? And, on top of that, the scened they did show were usually flashbacks and filmed wierd. I don't know. It seemed like a good idea, but I think they blew it. Maybe they're make an action movie about Mosters book to make up for it.

The movie was about the conversion of a man in prison, and, from that standpoint,it was great.I can't believe someone said that they should do an action movie on Monsters life. Why? So the gangbang lifestyle can be glorified and more kids will start the same shit myself and many others are paying for up to this day? Cmon man......thats ridiculous.

I feel you Monk.

I am still watchin it...but right now, after an hour and a half, one thing that I noticed that really isn't important, is the amount of minor anachronisms in the movie. I was noticin small things, such as how it was 91-92 and one dude in Imperial Courts had on a Mavericks hat with the new logo, and at the truce with the crips and bloods, you saw some hats that didn't even come out til the late 90s. This has nothin to do with the storyline, but just somethin kinda funny I wanted to point out.

One thing they coulda done was got better actors. Barbara's son, and many of the so called bangers were just fake, and it was obvious that they were straight hollywood actors. Somebody like me who hasn't banged but ain't a prep coulda done a better job than some of the bangers...after two bloods shot him, they sounded like they were from Redondo beach talkin about "lets go man" nothin like real bangers.

^^^^ Yea,you right my man. That was a trip....them dudes were straight hollywood! I also noticed the character who played Tony Bogart with the new Mavs cap.And the blood with the throwback Atlanta Hawks hat,I've been seeing those in just 4 feet stores all in Dallas.

Yo man there are already atleast 2 or 3 threads on this subject. No need to start another one.

The movie was on FX twice, and I dont know when they are planning on showing it again.
