Who is down with the Peace movement??????????
As I read many of these posts on the board, sometimes I get frustrated by the idiotic comments that i read and some of the silly topics.
Not much talk about peace among the gangs. As I hit the streets today to pay my respects to Jermaine Omar Choctaw from Swans, I noticed an ocean of gang intervention workers. Many cats from the streets, from their barrios and hoods representing their home but at the same time negotiating cease fires and peace treaties.
Not that much talk about that here on this forum but i think these cats are doing important work and I support their efforts 100%.

Re: Who is down with the Peace movement??????????
hell yeah im with that. too many homies, young and old, black, brown, white and asians losing there lives because of this mad ass life style. THIS MADNESS GOTTA STOP!!! wtf is it gonna take? more homies and family members gotta die? thats BS. like all of us i have lost many homeboys and more road dogs than that and i'm tired of see'ing it...
Re: Who is down with the Peace movement??????????
im straight down for anything that stops young AND old folks killing of each other... much respect to anyone who is trying to do something about it..
Re: Who is down with the Peace movement??????????
I also have to support those trying to cut down on the violence and increase the postiveness.
Re: Who is down with the Peace movement??????????
Yeah, unity is a beautiful thought. I peep how alot of people in here try to talk with some intelligence then get dragged into some silly online confrontations with each other. Usually it's newbies who come in bangin and get others riled up, or volatile topics like race issues. This stuff on this board is fun and games to some, a way of life to others. I am 100% Du Roc Crip to the end but it aint nothing funny about killing and throwing lives away. Im to the point now where if a homie my age or older get smoked or washed I just think at least he lived his life. But im 32 and I keep seeing to many of my young homies washed before they 25 or 20 trying to live this life. The system aint playing though, they putting blacc and brown underneath these jails at young ages, forever. I hope some of the real cats thats up in here learn something so maybe we can someday slow down some of this nonsense.
Re: Who is down with the Peace movement??????????
I have to agree with you all.
Re: Who is down with the Peace movement??????????
Well if you went to the Candle light vigil for Biggie that was from the Swans and who worked with Unity T.W.O., Inc, as a gang intervention specialist you would have saw Crips and Bloods together to remember a guy that was loved from many neighborhoods.
Yes these newbies come on here talking too much mess and bring alot of other members into confrontational debates. Lets keep the debates healthy and hopefully more people will respect each other.
Also Unity T.W.O would love to have people to come down to their office on Avalon and 84th Street to volunteer and participate in the peace movement.

Re: Who is down with the Peace movement??????????
That's very bad what happened Alonso. A man goes down and then their ridahs just take out the first available black man they can find which in this case happened to be a very positive individual out there doing good.
Basically the ridahs let the real killers get away and just whacked out the first man they could find with a bit of history growing up on the other side. He didn't have nothing to do with nothing.

GANGZ MAKE MONEY ITS A ENTERPRISE THERE WILL ALWAYZ BE THAT STRUGGLE 2 GET 2 THE TOP WEALTH! AND 2 DO THAT U HAVE 2 TEAR DOWN AND BUILD IN NEW AREAS SMASH THE COMPETITION.
Re: Who is down with the Peace movement??????????
for the fella who wrote the last post....there are, like, alternatives. Guns dont make money, people make money. Guns bring death, pain, misery, loss, mouring, revenge, depression soaking thro the community, pain hanging in the air we breath....if you really wanna make money, get an education...old fashioned idea right? Get a job, build it up. Save up yer money, keep your job, save for a deposit on real estate, do the place up, sell it, make money, whatever....guns are for people who have had their imaginations torn out of them by growing up in trauma ridden neighbourhoods. The hood is a place ridden with Post Traumatic Stress, what used to be called shell shock when soldiers came home from battle, screwwed up 4 life. I bet you got a good mind inside, a good heart, but why the freeze, why the heartless stance, I suggest its a strategy for survival, but there is always another way. There is alwys a choice. CHOOSE TO BE FREE OF IT. Nelson MAndela said 'you are free to be free'. Make the choice, before death comes and chooses you and steals your life before time. Peace

Re: Who is down with the Peace movement??????????
I am down with the peace movement. I know sometimes I come off as being a little racists but honestly I have partners from all over regardless on creed, skin, etc. It's just in the Harbor Area, I was raised predominatly in a Hispanic neighborhood and never really interacted with peeps from other races. But as I get older I am realizing that it is stupid to put labels on people and judged people by the color if their skin. I hope that one day people no matter where you are from, can lay down the guns and come together and enjoy life. Cause what is better than family, food, friends and women. I mean there is enough of all that in CA and why can't everyone be cool and share a piece of that pie. Peace homies.....
Re: Who is down with the Peace movement??????????
IM still very much grieving and still somewhat sick regarding Jermaine. He was a good person and dear friend. His family is wonderful and 'good good good people'! He will be missed, and I hope some of the lives he has changed, can continue on to change others. Because that's what he would want.
It stuns and saddens me to recognize the he and I will never talk again late in the night, we'll never help each other through the hard times of death and sickness coming to those closest to us, we'll never joke around or chop it up after a meal. But the memories of his decency and loyalty help me to believe that people are better than our history books and evening tv news tell us. Having a friend like Jermaine who was close like a brother only made my life richer. I miss him deeply.
If you and the rest of us who knew his love, with and compassion try to be as fair and humane as he was, then his memory will extend and never die..

PEACE IS THE ONLY WAY , IF WE WANNA REACH THE OTHER LEVEL AND GIVE OUR YOUNG BROTHERS A BRIGHTER FUTURE , BUT WE SHOULD NEVER FORGET THE 92 PEACE TREATY MISTAKES AND ALSO THE GOOD MOMENTS OF LOVE BUT ALSO HOW THINGS JUST WENT DOWN AGAIN ,HOW IT WENT DOWN AND WHY IT WENT DOWN THESE ARE THE INTERSTING QUESTIONS ....AND THEN WE MIGHT GO FOWARD NOT FALLIN IN THE SAME TRAPS , IM FAR AWAY FROM THE HOOD SO YALL WILL SAY ITS NONE OF MY BUSINESS NO MORE ...LOL BUT THAT SHYT IS 4 LIFE WHERE EVER YOU ARE THE HOOD REMAINS IN YOUR SOUL .
Re: Who is down with the Peace movement??????????
Peace is what I dream of..but people are what they are..and the world is what it is.
I do what I can with my homies, associates, aquaintances and anyone else who is sick of this sh_t too.
I'm tired of funerals.
Anything out there I can do further to help, let me know..I'll do my best at whatever I can.
But gotta be realistic "the world is what it is...and we are what we are"

Sorry to see that this string died out. With all the hatin' going on around here, I guess I can't expect too many people to contribute to the movement of elevating their own community and those that are in it.
I went to a function about the police beating in LA that occurred a couple weeks ago, It was cool to see brothas from all differnent hoods coming together. There were members of Lennox 13, Rollin 60s, School Yard Crips, Rollin 20s Blood, Bounty Hunter, Shotgun, Swans and Harlem 30s. That was from who I had known, and many other cats from other hoods.
People need to know that LA cats are coming together, and this goes out to all the copy cat cat hoods popping up across America and else where. You guys are late.

Re: Who is down with the Peace movement??????????
The 80's are gone, the 90's are gone, and with them a WHOLE LOT of people are gone! And it's not just the people that are locked down and dead, it's the families they had and the communities they lived in that suffered and perished right along with them. If you break out of the box it's also the good that never was. So was it worth it? Is this all that remains?
I'd like to think the new generation has their eyes open and see yesterday's mistakes and don't want a repeat. Maybe then yesterday's mistakes can be the seeds for a better tomorrow.

Re: Who is down with the Peace movement??????????
I initially started a thread called"OUR BABIES ARE DYING FOR THIS????", and I was trying to start some diologue on some solutions to our problems in these hoods. The topic got way off the subject once the ignorant ones was allowed to start posting foolishness. This should be a fourm that should really be taken serious, because as I have stated before and we all know this, OUR BABIES ARE DYING ON A DAILY BASIS!!!! I believe that alot of us have alot to share on some solutions and some contacts to help us who need them. A moderator really needs to monitor these particular threads and not allow the nonsense to build on here. There are some on here who are only interested in causing beef or unnecessary debates. I'm sure alot of us have shorties and want their lives to be better than ours were, so let's build together and offer our views and any contacts we may have that can help those of us who don't know or have any outlets to jobs or solutions. I know there is some of us who has alot to offer on here. I personally have lived that ignorant life and have lost too many to these streets as I'm sure a lot of us have. I'm willing to put aside any differences of beliefs, race or whatever to help solve some these problems we all have.

ORGANIZATIONS CAN TRY HARD TO SUPERHARD, BUT THERE WILL ALWAYS BE THAT ONE NIGGA FROM SUCH AND SUCH HOOD WHO WILL HAVE A "FUCC YOU" IN THEIR MIND WHEN THEY SEE A FORMER RIVAL. ALL IT'LL TAKE IS FOR SOMEONE TO GIVE A WRONG LOOK AND ITS ON. IN ORDER FOR ANY TYPE OF PEACE THEIR WILL HAVE TO BE FREINDSHIP WITHIN RIVAL HOODS, YOU CANT JUST SHAKE HANDS AND CALL IT A TRUCE. SOME NIGGAS WILL BE LIKE FUCC IT, THAT NIGGA SHOT THE HOMIE, NOW WE S'POSED TO BE COOL? AND ALL HE'LL NEED IS TO SEE THAT NIGGA SOMEWHERE, NOT IN HIS HOOD, A RESTAURANT, ANYWHERE AND TAKE HIM OUT. Re: Who is down with the Peace movement??????????
I have to say what I always say about this topic. Brothers, the first thing we got to do is have forgiveness, and I know that is a hard, hard thing to do, because I'm sure we all have lost family and homies to these streets, and of course we will never forget our peoples that's restin, but we GOT TO have forgiveness!!!! Alot of these that bang profess to have some type of spiritual belief and I'm sure for those who do, want the God whom they believe in to forgive them for their wrongs. Well if we expect our creator to forgive us then WE got to show forgiveness to our Black and Brown brothers who have took some of our peoples away from us. I know many will say, it can never be done, well if you think this, guess what your creator is going do when you ask him for giveness for your wrongs!!!! I got much to say about this topic, but I won't go further, I spoke on all this under my thread "OUR BABIES ARE DYING FOR THIS?????"

Re: Who is down with the Peace movement??????????
Peace would be cool, but like alonso said, alot of people on this forum who should be talkin about peace, don't, and i don't get that. Instead, they want to stay,"in the middle of the road", when you know how your grew up and what you out on them streets is WRONG. There is nothing cool in Murder and Death, take this from one who WAS out there, and also in the Army(RangerSP). I've said this before, but i'll say it again IF YOU ARE NOT PART OF THE SOLUTION< YOU ARE PART OF THE PROBLEM!!!!! there is No way around that, and those of you on this board who could make a difference, you need to step the F--k up and be men, that's real

You don't get many writers who is down for the peace movement because so many writers here are addicited to chaos. Thrive on dysfunction..star struck by gangsterism. I feel many do it because they want some respect they cannot get on their own.
One cannot be down for the peace movement until they have peace in thier personal lives. To tell you the truth, many don't want that.

Re: Who is down with the Peace movement??????????
Although i am not too educated on the extent of gang violence in Cali or ne where else for that matter, i do know that countless individuals are senselessly losing their lives and greatly support any peace movement underway.
As someone previously mentioned, unity is beautiful. I got to experience such a beauty recently. Through a new friend i happened to chill with a couple of new guys...through conversation i learned that each and everyone of of them were from different gangs...bloods, crips, and kings. They all came together through being in the military and put aside gang differences to come together as men trying to better themselves in life. That to me was a beautiful thing in itself.
SO yes, i would LOVE to see such relations spread throughout all of America and beyond. I'm not saying all relationships will be as peachy keen as the one i mentioned, but some form of peace needs to be enacted...we cannot keep wiping ourselves out of existence this way.

Sad but true....and does the goverment as a whole really do much to quell the violence? Who are the majority of people being killed due to gang violence? An overwhelming amount of minorities in this nation. Too many people do not realize that gang violence keeps the marxist view alive...those in power will remain and don't have to too much to remain their because those in the lower classes are fighting an ongoing civil war amongst themselves.

It really is sad. Read some of the post written by some of these characters. Don't have a clue whatsoever. They are signing their own life sentences and death certificates and don't even know it. Re: Who is down with the Peace movement??????????
THERE IS NO IDEOLOGY WITHOUT HOLES
In trying to understand the philosophy of nonviolence, it is important to keep in mind there is no living, vital philosphy which does not have “holes” in it. Let me give two examples. Marxism (and I am heavily indebted to Marx) has an inherent contradiction in that it argued “history is on our side, socialism is inevitable, the result of contradictions which will lead to the collapse of capitalism”. Fine, if socialism is inevitable, then why not sit back and wait for it? Why risk one’s life - as so many courageous socialists and communists did - in a struggle, the end of which was already certain?
Buddhism, to which I am also personally indebted, tells us that Buddha sat under a tree, meditated, and discovered the truth, a large part of which was non-attachment. Why then did he bother to teach it? If Buddha had gained the answer, why was he still so “attached to the world” that he taught at all? In both cases I have heard the answers - they do not persuade me. Philosophies, those which can change the course of lives, and alter history, are marked by contradictions. Only minor ideologies have all the answers.
Nonviolence does not answer all questions. It is filled with contradictions. My own grasp of nonviolence is a blend of things I have read in Gandhi, heard from Bayard Rustin and A. J. Muste, from reading Eastern philosophy, the gospels, Karl Marx, etc. This is an effort to outline what I have learned, knowing there is not a single idea here which is original with me.
THERE IS NO PEACE WITHOUT WAR
NO GOOD WITHOUT EVIL
NO HATE WITHOUT LOVE
PEACE IS A STATE OF MIND MORE OR LESS THAN AN ACTION
