Re: who was the first to turn up the heat(gunplay)
I was told by several different sources that the Chain Gang were the first to really start with the gun play, in response the West Side Crips started laying dudes out (1972).
If my memory serves me correctly, I was also told the Pirus started using gun play, then Raymonds East Side Crips retaliated in the same manner. That was during the time the Piru Street Boys existed so it had to be between 72'- 73'.

Re: who was the first to turn up the heat(gunplay)
Who on the east side got it cracking when the east side crips were the aggressors, beating everyone up and robbing them? The Denver Lanes gave them the most problems, but the Lanes are West Side. Athens killings came later.dubts wrote:the ES was the first with the gunplay
Come to think of it -it was the Figuroa Boys who were the first to come with the Gun Play. Then the Chain Gang and Denver Lane Boys. Those are all west Side Gangs.
The Chain Gang were being victimized and depleted by the West Side Crips out the 100's because the Chain Gang didnt have allies back then and the blood alliance hadnt formed yet.
The Crips ran Centinela Park and were having their meetings there in Inglewood. They would bump into the Chain Gang in the area and at the Inglewood Forum. Barefoot Pookie, Mike Concepcion, and another brother were convicted of killing a Chain Gang in 72 I think his name was darryl Green not sure, and had shoot outs at Family Functions when they evolved to the Family.
The Family picked up from there with the gun play with ETG and RSC in 74'.
I'm not certain, just saying.. but I am pretty certain it was the Fig Boys.. all the original east side and west side crips will tell you the same.

ETG and RSC in 74? wtf?
how many East Side Crips have you talked to? seems like barefoot pookie seems to be your source again and again, your getting a west side biased viewpoint, how many grandees have you come across? original pirus? original east side crips?

Re: who was the first to turn up the heat(gunplay)
Pookie is a source, but he's not my source. No, I haven't talk to any Grandees, but the Grandees came around 72. And they consider themselves West side anyway. Their demographics aren't the same as L.A.dubts wrote:ETG and RSC in 74? wtf?

I do have a newspaper clippings of the Grandees and Piru smoking each other, but that was like summer 73. By mid 73 the Fig Boys and Chain Gang were defunct.
I have also talked to a gang of Original East Side 118, and q102, thats where Little James and Mack Thomas originally came from. I also talked with a G Nutty Block. But as i said, don't rely on my info; i wasn't there. Its just my opinion.

if everybody who had a gun was actually using them it wouldnt be too many niggaz left.....im talkin about hoods or cliccs who used their guns to make a point and gain the upper hand on their enemies or who just didnt give a f**k and was laying people down....not every hood had that mentallity we were trying to figure out who was the first to become that way making others follow suit just for the sake of surviving...DIPSHIT..............tony323 wrote:ALL OF EM HAD GUNS YOU DIPSHTS

You are the Compton Historian, ask your gee's. Oh, thats right, US Piru was in your hood in 73.
Were the Bishops near your hood too?
What about Mo-Town Crips, when yall start that?
When did Bob Simmons leave Banning and set up in Compton?
Who hung out at the Red House?
Thats where your compton Gee's come from homie.. Raymond, Tookie, Mack Thomas, Buddha, Barefoot Pookie, Donald Norwood, Mr. 'X', frosty, Little james, Red Dog etc. Those dudes were banging Crip before Compton. It started with Boothill and the Grandees. And yes, it was before 73 after Bob Simmons home opened and after the West Side Crips joined forces with the East.

Re: who was the first to turn up the heat(gunplay)
Nah Casper, I ain't no specialist man, i'm just like everyone else here. You know a lot about Compton, period.
I don't think the Grandees started until after the West Side.. so it had to be 71 or 72 but i'd estimate 72 after the Red House moved to Compton.. thats where all the OG's from South Central hung out and held meetings.
Pookie had a lot going on in 72 i doubt he was around Compton in 72, more like 73. In 72' you had Ducc, Tookie, Buddha, Mack Thomas (Grandees), and so on and so on.
Plus like i said, the Grandees would be considered west side in Compton since the geographics differ from L.A., and I don't know who turned the gun play up first, I just stated an educated opinion.
