Unread post by alexalonso » November 12th, 2009, 1:57 am

I want to know who you think was the best rapper during this era. When I sat best rapper I dont mean best rap song, but the actual best rapper. I also dont mean the most records sold, just the best rapper.

best song ? too many to chose from.
AMW album was heavily influenced by east coast beats. so i wouldnt pick anything from that album. Or maybe i was just a little too young to appreciate anything off that.
on the Death Certificate album, it'd be between My Summer Vacation, No vaseline, How To Survive In South Central.
Predator - wicked and it was a good day
But i gotta say, Lethal injection was my favourite cube album.
You Know How We Do It, Lil Ass Gee and When I Get to Heaven i still play to this day

I think this Era is the toughest because thats when the best rappers were around.
I can only put out my personal favorites:

Ice Cube
2Pac
Wu Tang (Enter the 36 chambers)
almost all of the first wave of Wu Tang members (Method Man/Tical, ODB/Return to the 36 Chambers: The Dirty Version, Raekwon/Built for Cuban Linx, GZA/Liquid Swords etc.)
Masta Ace
Notorious Big
NWA
man the list is endless.

But i personally would vote for Wu Tang and all its members cause they influenced me the most. Shit, i still have all of their albums here.

man dj quik was a complete artist, well more talentued than mc eiht and probably more successful...eiht was a good narrator though, but without the beats of slip and dj mike tee let me tell u that he would been a mediocre rapper!

The question is the best rapper during that time. In my oppinion it would have to go to snoop. He was not only popular on the west coast but the east coast and the dirty. When the Chronic came out, it put him on the map. Then when he dropped Doggystyle, he had it on lock. Q-tip, Nas, and several wu-tang artist, while they later established themselves as individual artists, during this particular time it was snoop by far. Now if you're talking about rap groups, that is a whole different question.

i'm agree snoop was the most popular from the westcoast in this era
now if i would to say one of the very best rapper out of the west i would go with MC REN,the best from the nwa departure to me,not cited by nas for nothing and in addition was successful (first disk platinium and the rest gold)
special mention to warren-g the biggest loss of death row ,dogg pound,dj quik...cant cited some bay area rappers tho dont know maybe too short, spice one...?
