Who cares about the most dangerous streets, it all about the most dangerous city. That's New orleans, down here anything goes, at any place. New orleans had the highest murder rate last year(every year this decade actually except for the Katrina year), and in July there already about to have as many murders as last year.

Don't know if this is true or not but maybe the public housing and high unemployment rate have something to do with the murder rate. If you look into all those cities with high murder rate, the cities itself is flooded with public housing/projects and not a whole lot of factories/companies to employ the people.

New Orleans has the 3rd highest Murder Rate (per 100,000 citizens) in the world, behind Moscow, Russia, and Caracas, Venezuela. Before Katrina it was much like any other major city in the USA, it had its murders, drugs, etc but it wasn't until the aftermath of Katrina did things go a little crazy. Yes poverty plays a part but it's not so much the public housing but lack thereof. They are closing one project after another, then you got all the folks who didn't relocate and are trying to reestablish their "turf" so to speak. So few crackheads so many dealers, lol. It's not funny but its true.

And to the dude saying "anything anywhere" you know thats not all true, no ones gonna do nothing up there past Bienville and Bourbon they stay having cops posted on every street that deep in the French Quarter, I still see national guard posted up sometime by Jefferson Square. All the nonsense always has and always will happen South of Canal Street, down past the grayhound station, with the occasional drunk fight outside the OK Market or near Bourbon st.

Cuz it's not that dangerous. You see all types of folks out that way, roscoes is something of a (sub)pop culture icon and it's just right up the street. You see non minorities walking that way from time to time, nothing popping off.

They may base the list on the likelihood of a civilian getting caught up in something down there, in CA theres some rules and most don't really try to mess with civilians unless you're on the come up. but some places in the in the midwest, down south and even out east don't give a damn civilian or not you can get mobbed on.

Those Midwestern and Southern cities are *really* economically depressed, even compared to South Central, Watts, East LA, etc. That means more people turn to crime and they're more desperate.

Also, even though LA is more spread out than the East Coast, those Midwestern/Southern cities are even more spread out than LA. That means less police presence, more places to hide, etc.

Its a dangerous combo.

I don't live in the public housing or the projects and you know how many shootouts theres been around here? Not to far away from here some thugs broke into these peoples house and shot everybody inside execution style. 2 of the were kids no older than 3.

And it was like this before Katrina we was the murder capital almost every year before Katrina and in 94-95 New Orleans had the highest murder rate ever recored in America.

Camden NJ, Compton CA should be on there also they should be on there. Broad & Daulphin isnt dangerous at all broad st period isnt dangerous its the side streets you should worry about. I wonder whats the merits or validity of this list for years Detroit, Camden, & Compton been Washinton DC'S data base most violent and trouplesome cities with the worst hoods per sq mile.

I dont type because I got hands or talk because I got lips heres some research for SG.com fam and Camden NJ has a bad Blood & Crip problem

Monday, November 23, 2009
CAMDEN, N.J. — A national study ranks the New Jersey city of Camden as the nation's most dangerous city in 2008.

The annual rankings from CQ Press are based on FBI-compiled crime data and population figures. Some criminologists say the methodology is unfair.

Camden is no stranger to the top of the list. It was the most dangerous city for 2003 and 2004 and is consistently in the top 10. The bad ranking comes during a year when the number of murders has dropped amid major changes to the police department.

The study found Camden had more than 2,300 violent crimes for every 10,000 residents last year.

St. Louis, Oakland, Calif., Detroit and Flint, Mich., round out the top five.

The safest city with more than 75,000 residents was Colonie, N.Y.
