GANG ALLIANCES of NYC

Unread post by Lonewolf » March 13th, 2005, 8:16 pm

~x La Gran Familia x~

LGF is an alliance of Mexican Gangs in New York City.
Several of these have roots in California & the SouthWest, but most are of local beginnings. Most started off when the wave of Mexicans flooded the East Coast during the late 80's & through out the 90's. The mexican population continues to grow and with it the number of Mexican/Chicano gangs also grows.

The list below falls under the LGF alliance

18 STREET - L.A. offshot
SUREñOS 13 - offshot from SOxCAL
BORDER BROTHERS - offshot from SW Prison System
HERMANDAD DE PISTOLEROS LATINOS - offshot from SW Prison Syatem
LOS NIñOS MALOS
BARRIO KINGS
BROWN PRIDE
LOS COMPADRES
LOS CUERITOS
ESCANDALOSOS
L.A. TRECE
LA RAZA MEXICANA
LA CIEN (100's)
LA TREMENDA
LOS TRAVIESOS
VAGABUNDOS
NIGHT AND DAY

The other Mexican gang alliance in NYC is "LA GRAN RAZA", these are also mostly homegrown, but are more related to South of the Border than with any other part of the U.S.

THE MEXICAN BOYS
WILD CHICANOS
CACHONDOS
LOS CACOS
CRAZY HOMIES
CUATRO INQUIETOS
LA MUGRE
LOS CHOLOS
LOS PRIMOS
LOS NECIOS
LOS PALOMOS
LOS PITUFOS
REYES LOCOS
SANTANEROS
MICHOACANOS
SOUTH SIDERS

A large number of Mexican gangs in NYC remain independant, and are as yet not affiliated with neither LGF nor LGR.
Among these are the following v v v v

M-18 aka: LA MARA 18 - offshot from Mexico
M-13 aka: LA MARA 13 - offshot from Mexico
MS aka: LA MARA SALVATRUCHA - L.A. offshot
13 LOCOS - offshot from SOxCAL
EL ESCUADRON de la muerte
LOS LOCOS (CRAZY ONES)
LOS PLAYEROS
LOS TOROS
SOMBRAS (SHADOWS)
SONS OF MEXICO
TRES PUNTOS (3 DOTS)
VAGOS
VATOS LOCOS
LOS CHACAS aka: CHACALES (JACKALS)

Feel free to revise, update, add, correct
i am not from NYC and don't know much about it either.

The BLOODS are said to have the biggest alliance of NYC.

As opposed to L.A. where most BLOODS are primarily a Black thing, in NYC there are Bloods of many different races, still the majority are Black.
They affiliate themselves under the "UNITED BLOOD NATION", forming a loose-knit federation of sets. Some started off as offshots from L.A. but some are from homegrown local gangs that had no ties to California.

The following is a list of some of the BLOODS gangs in NYC

5-9 BRIMS
18 TRAY BLOODS
GANGSTER KILLER BLOODS (Brooklyn)
EAST SIDE PIRU - offshot from San Diego
BLOOD STONE VILLAINS - offshot from L.A.
MILLER GANGSTERS - L.A. offshot
HIT SQUAD BRIMS
MAD STONE BLOODS
MAD DOG BLOODS
VALENTINE BLOODS
NINE-TRAY GANGSTERS
SEX-MONEY-MURDER

The Chicago based PEOPLES NATION alliance is represented in NYC primarily by the LATIN KINGS, some local offshot gangs, as well as the NYC "BLOODS" affiliating with "PN".
The Puerto Rican "ASSOCIACION NETA" also affiliates with the PEOPLES NATION but does not fall under it.
The LATIN KINGS are one of the largest single gangs in the city, nevertheless the PN is not too strongly represented in NYC, and has too many enemies to contend with.

The CRIPS in NYC are said to be more unified and are not as divided as their conterparts from L.A.
Although some of the CRIPS sets were also started off from L.A. for the most part it was local gangs which affiliated with the L.A. culture what developed into the sets of today.
Some of NYC CRIPS also affiliate with the FOLKS NATION Gangster Diciples.

The following is a list of some of the NYC CRIPS gangs v v v v

HARLEM MAFIA CRIPS - Harlem
G-STONE CRIPS
PARK AVENUE CRIPS
KILLA GANGSTER CRIPS - Brooklyn
CANARSIE GANGSTER CRIPS
ACE-DEUCE-TRAY CRIPS - Bronx
EIGHT TRAY GANGSTERS CRIPS - L.A. offshot
HOOVER CRIPS - L.A. offshot
MURDAVILLE GANGSTER CRIPS
UNITED GANGSTER CRIPS
ROLLIN' 30's - L.A. offshot
ROLLIN' 60's - L.A. offshot

The Chicago based alliance of FOLKS NATION is represented in NYC by several major Gangster Diciples offshot gangs. They have also formed alliances with local gangs as well as with the CRIPS.

The list of FOLKS NATION gangs include v v v v

GANGSTER DICIPLES
UNITED GANGSTER DICIPLES
YOUNG GANGSTER DICIPLES
INSANE GANGSTER DICIPLES
BROTHERHOOD OF THE STRUGGLE
PUMP NATION
LA RAZA - Chicago Mexican Gang offshot

I definitely see a lot of familiar names on your first list, that is breaking down La Gran Familia, La Gran Raza, and offshoots.

TRES PUNTOS (3 DOTS)
VAGOS
VATOS LOCOS
SDN
LOS CHOLOS (or just Cholos)
WxC
18th St.
Sur 13.
***These I can say are definitely around.
As for the others, they may just not be as out in the open.

The SDN (escuadron) is really big in my area of BKLN. WxC I would say is the most widespread, you see them in different areas.

I don't think The NGE / 5%ers would classify themselves as a gang. And as for the Asian gangs, there are many more than what has been listed here, this much I am sure of.

I am also reading a book that traces gangs in the 70's in a couple chapters (Can't Stop Won't Stop) and I think many of the gangs listed in your last post such as Ching-a-lings, Latin Soul Brothers, Savage Nomads, are no longer active.

Which ones are still around?

And why would some not be considered gangs?

Are there any Italian/Jewish/Irish/Polack street gangs still left in NYC?

As you already know, I DON’T KNOW DIDDLYSQUAT ABOUT N.Y.C.
But it does trip me out how NYC being one of the first (if not the first) city in America that developed gangs, and went on to be a gangland capitol with many original styles, has now become more of a battle ground for other gang influences from outside the State, and from what I read up on, there is nowhere the amount of gang membership as in the 60’s & 70’s.

What about these v v v v ?

911 – clear & black colored beads

LOS PAPI CHULOS (Puerto Ricans) – green bandanas, green & white beads
LOST NATION – red & black beads

HOW ACURATE IS THIS STORY v v v v

RIKERS ISLAND & NYC STREET GANGS

Rikers is the largest detention house in the United States. It is estimated that as many as 30% of the inmates are gang affiliated, therefore Rikers has developed a gang problem that dwarfs any of the NYC ghettos or burroughs.
Many of the NYC street gangs affiliate themselves at Rikers with one or another of the major gang alliances, which exist in the prison.

The predominant gang alliances are the following –
- LATIN KINGS / PEOPLES NATION
- GANGSTER DICIPLES / FOLK NATION
- UNITED BLOOD NATION / BLOODS
- FIVE PERCENTERS / MUSLIMS
- LA ASSOCIACION NETA – PUERTO RICANS
- DOMINICAN POWER – DOMINICANS
- ZULU NATION – BLACKS
- LA GRAN FAMILIA – MEXICANS
-
A large number of other Independent gangs are also represented at Rikers, and this makes for a very violent environment, even more so than in the streets of New York City.

With the overwhelming growth of the Black & Hispanic gangs not only in the streets but also in the prison system, there came a decline in White gangs, in particular of Italian & Irish descent, however the same influx also created a solidarity movement amongst other Whites, giving birth to the White supremacist gangs of Skinheads.
These Skinheads gangs came to be known as “nazy gangs”, and at Rikers they bond together under their ideological beliefs of White supremacy.
In the streets, gangs like the RED WINGS (Italian), DUCKY BOYS (Irish) & FORDHAM BALDIES (Mixed White) became a thing of the past and faded away into the annals of “BOPPING” history of N.Y.C.

The Bopping era that for so long dominated NYC street gangs, which was forever immortalized in books and movies such as “The Warriors”, has now given way to a myriad of gang styles from so many different attitudes and parts of the country, from Lowriders to Hip-Hop to Muslim Militants, few gangs from the “BOP” era remain, and even those that remain have more in common with the rest of today’s styles than with the past in which they were born.
Gone are the ENCHANTERS (Puerto Ricans), SPORTMEN (Blacks), VICEROYS (Italians), DRAGONS (Puerto Ricans), CHAPLAINS (Black & Black Puerto Ricans), QUENTONS (Italians), MAU MAU’S (Puerto Ricans), and so many more.

In today’s NYC street scene & at Rikers Island, a new elaborate system of gangs & alliances has come to dominate and do away with the past.

Your prior list, I would say the only real one is D-Cep and the Lo-Lifes. The Lo-Lifes was a well-known boosting crew that targeted department stores for (hence the name) Polo gear. This crew is known to be behind department stores closing down from the amount of gear that was stolen. The rapper Thirstin Howl III was a ex Lo-Life member. They were defunct mostly before the 90's came around. I don't know where you came about this list, but some of those could have been around for a year maybe a decade ago, then disappeared. That list seems like a compilation of names that have EVER existed, instead of a list of generations old gangs.

Do the gangs still use beads or different uniforms to rep'?

Are the alliances "true", or does Blood fight Blood?

What old sets, say 20-30 years old, are still standing today?

So how's it work at Rikers?

Yeah some gangs like the Kings of course use the beads, and like I've seen dudes wearing the rosaries besides that. Bloods known to use beads too. some Crips using beads. Beads is like a cultural thing so I even see old men wearing the beads. A lot of red, white, and blue beads for Puerto Rico's colors. A lot of dudes that are hard to identify (black bandanna, black rosary) wearing them but it's not obvious like the black and gold of the Kings.

The old, established sets would be LK's, BGF, D-Cep (but I don't know how true the connection is between old and new generations of Decepticons), Zulu Nation (not a full-out gang but have numbers), Five Percenters (not a full-out gang but have numbers). Because the environment for banging has made that transition to C's and B's, I would say the rest happened thru a slow transition in the 90's, so thats the reason why that list may look crazy because all those gangs could have been around for only a very short time.

Imma help u out with this as well

The BLOODS are said to have the biggest alliance of NYC.

As opposed to L.A. where most BLOODS are primarily a Black thing, in NYC there are Bloods of many different races, still the majority are Black.
They affiliate themselves under the "UNITED BLOOD NATION", forming a loose-knit federation of sets. Some started off as offshots from L.A. but some are from homegrown local gangs that had no ties to California.

The following is a list of some of the BLOODS gangs in NYC
Kabbage Patch Piru
Denver Lanes
Tree Top Piru
Mob Piru
Prospect Park Piru
5-9 BRIMS
18 TRAY BLOODS
93 Gangsta Bloods
GANGSTER KILLER BLOODS aka G Shine
EAST SIDE PIRU - offshot from San Diego SMASHED
BLOOD STONE VILLAINS - offshot from L.A. SMASHED
MILLER GANGSTERS - L.A. offshot SMASHED
HIT SQUAD BRIMS
MAD STONE BLOODS SMASHED
MAD DOG BLOODS SMASHED
VALENTINE BLOODS

SEX-MONEY-MURDER
Bounty Hunter Bloods

The Chicago based PEOPLES NATION alliance is represented in NYC primarily by the LATIN KINGS, some local offshot gangs, as well as the NYC "BLOODS" affiliating with "PN".
The Puerto Rican "ASSOCIACION NETA" also affiliates with the PEOPLES NATION but does not fall under it.
The LATIN KINGS are one of the largest single gangs in the city, nevertheless the PN is not too strongly represented in NYC, and has too many enemies to contend with.

LATIN EMPIRE
VICE LORDS - IVE LIVED IN NY ALL MY LIFE AND NEVER SEEN A VICE LORD

Cold Bear wrote:Yeah some gangs like the Kings of course use the beads, and like I've seen dudes wearing the rosaries besides that.

Honestly Most of those Gangs got ABSORBED by the ZULU NATION. If u talk to ANY old head in ZN chances are he was a member of one of those old "crews" you named in the 70s. and the person who talked about the Lo Lifes should know they not a gang, they was a buncha cats stealing. I was a Junkyard Juk back in the day in the BX. I know most of this stuff you talkin about but for lonewolf, where did u get that list from?

But it does trip me out how NYC being one of the first (if not the first) city in America that developed gangs, and went on to be a gangland capitol with many original styles, has now become more of a battle ground for other gang influences from outside the State, and from what I read up on, there is nowhere the amount of gang membership as in the 60’s & 70’s.

What about these v v v v ?

911 – clear & black colored beads
BLACK DEVILS – black & red beads
BOUND BY HONOR – blue & white bandanas
BUDIKA – black, blue & green beads
BUSHWICK FAMILY – black, purple & white beads
J-CLAD BISHOPS – blue headbands & black army hats/berets
DECEPTICONS – (Blacks) - black hooded sweatshirts
DEGRAW POSSE – purple & black
DOMINICAN POWER – blue & clear beads
DOMINICANS DON’T PLAY – white, blue & red beads
DOWN TO FIGHT – clear & black beads
FALCONS – green & burgundy beads
FOON-FOON – turquoise & light purple beads
JAMAICAN POSSE – black, yellow & green beads
KRAZY DRUNKEN MIX (Irish) – orange, white & green beads
LO-LIFES (Brooklyn) – represents with polo brand clothing
LOS PAPI CHULOS (Puerto Ricans) – green bandanas, green & white beads
LOST NATION – red & black beads
MANHATTAN BLOOD BROTHERS – black & red beads
MASTERS IN KRIME – blue & brown beads
MORT aka: DEATH – solid black beads
POSSE CLAD – light wooded beads
RENEGADES – blue & black beads
SICK MOTHAFOCKERS – black with “one” red beads
SONS OF DEATH – black & red beads
SPANISH KINGS – (Puerto Ricans) – orange & white beads
TAKING CARE OF BROTHERS – white & red beads
TERMINATE SQUAD – purple, black & white beads
TRUE TO THE HEART – red, yellow & blue beads
UNFORGIVEN – black & purple
UNITED NATIONS – clear white & clear purple beads
UNITED WE STAND – green & white beads

Or these v v v v ?

3RM 300 RUTHLESS MANIACS
BLACK MAFIA
CRAZY HOMICIDES
DIRTY DOZEN
L.A. CREW
LA FAMILIA (Puerto Ricans)
LATIN DRAGONS
LATINOS WITH RESPECT
LATIN REPUBLIC
LOST BOYS
MATATONES
MOHECANS
RAT HUNTERS
RUFF RYDERS
SILENCIOSOS
STAMFORD GANG
SUPERIORS
UNITED ONES
All of those are unactive crews from the 80s excluding the dominican gangs, the Bishops, D Ceps, Jamaican Posse, and alot are sets in Neta and Latin Kings and Zulu Nation. WHERE DID U FIND THIS LIST..that shit is exclusive. AND as far as the second group listed Lost Boys is in South side Queens,Ruff Ryders are a BLACK bike gang (not the rap group people),la familia are Netas, and Black Mafia is BGF. good post by the way

So what is the real today, somebody break it down, "I'M INTERESTED".
Especially Old Schoolers still around, I know there used to be THE FORUM OLDIES, GRANDES BANDOLEROS INCORPORADOS, PHANTOM LORDS, VANCORTLAND RANGERS and others, each with its own uniforms and codes and i find that very original in the gang styles.
The hats with matchtype sticks, canes, colored leather jackets with emblems, logos to identify the gang, war codes, I'M STARVING FOR ALL THAT TYPE OF INFO.

As to where I found the list, it was on one of those web sites for NYC gangs, can't remember the site, i think it had something like NYC MOBZ in the name - something like that. I copied it and tweeked it a lil' bit and re-worked it with some info i already had.

So I'm way off, right?

Nah most of the info you got is correct except for one thing, its reaaaaal old. i useta be a junkyard juk with my red.black.green beads and my jacket with my name on the back haha. we had serious beef with the savage nomads and bishops. Thats back before crack...then after 85 cats started getting more about the money and alotta gangs just died off one way or another. my father was a black spade, my older brother Shateek RIP usta be a D Cep. But as far as "gangs go in NY its basically...Bloods.crips.latin kings.various spanish gangs.zulu nation. some people look past the fact that we have THE MOST PEOPLE here. Harlem is probably the size of half of compton but it has almost 20 times the population. waaay too much going on to keep up with it

Let's say 'hypothetically' if you were to have a 'run-in' with a Dominican from the LES, what are the possible sets or crews he could have ties with?

DDP, dominicans disturbing the peace. they got major beef with the ricans, get this, in puerto rico dominicans control the drug market. Theres another Dominican gang in harlem called le circle. these cats started a fire in the jail in DR in febuary that killed 134 inmates

heres a good site on NY gangs http://www.nagia.org/NGTASection_III.htm

A, Good look for that link, purplecity. I ask because I was kicking it with an older Dominican from LES and my dog ended up getting beat (in the pocket, not physically). Shit is f*cked up because I brought him in but my man caught the jux, not me.

Yeah the Western part of Harlem like in the high 130's is straight Dominican. They definitely seem organized and I've seen them run up on fools looking like Crips. This could be an isolated incident I don't know.

That NYC Mobz site hasn't been updated in years. The founder abondoned it I guess. The info is dated and has a lot of long gone gangs and is missing alot of new ones.
