She was raised in Atlanta, Georgia and her hometown Jackson, MS. She is the second of five children and learned at an early that hard work can get you places by receiving her BS and MS degrees in Biology and then matriculating into a PhD program in Microbiology, where she continues to work rigourously to make it to the top of her game in school.
