A 20-year-old Novato woman was arrested after county drug investigators searched her home on a warrant and found 250 tablets of Ecstasy, an assault weapon with a silencer, a revolver, Norteno gang paraphernalia and cocaine, a task force supervisor said.
Lauren Elizabeth Weaver is scheduled to appear in court Thursday to learn whether she will face charges. She is being held at the Marin County Jail in lieu of $20,000 bail.
Weaver's arrest caps a six-week investigation by the Marin County Major Crimes Task Force, the county's narcotics unit. Investigators developed information that Weaver was selling Ecstasy throughout Novato and San Rafael, and had sold more than 200 pills, said task force Sgt. Bruce Baker.
Investigators served a search warrant late Tuesday night at Weaver's residence on McClay Road. She was arrested when she drove up to the home.
The drugs found at the residence have an estimated street value of $4,000, Baker said. Detectives also found red articles of clothing and photographic evidence that link Weaver to the Norteno street gang, Baker said.
The Norteno gang was organized in Folsom State Prison in 1968 and operates mostly in Northern California. Although it is a Latino gang, Baker said it is not unusual for the Nortenos to include people of various races and ethnicities, including young suburban whites such as Weaver.
In July, two suspected gang members and a 16-year-old San Rafael boy were arrested in an assault on two plainclothes detectives in Novato. Authorities said they suspected the attack was a gang initiation for the boy, who is white.
The task force is still investigating the source of the guns found in Weaver's residence.
"It's extremely important that we get guns off the street," he said.
Weaver was booked on suspicion of transportation or sales of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance for sale, and possession of a controlled substance while armed with a loaded firearm.
