Two teenage boys were arrested Tuesday afternoon, accused of taking part in a gang-related beating of a victim in Gilroy.
Gilroy police received a report of a fight at about 12:55 p.m. in an alley near the 7300 block of Church Street, and upon arrival, officers arrested the two 17-year-old suspects.
The victim, who was contacted by police at a local hospital, said that he was attacked by the two teens and hit over the head with a blunt object.
Officers located a hydraulic arm from a vehicle's hatchback near the scene of the attack, and believe that was the weapon used to strike the victim, police said.
One suspect, found with a screwdriver, was arrested on suspicion of possessing a deadly weapon, violation of probation, and assault with a deadly weapon. The other suspect was also arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon.
Police believe the assault was gang-related based on statements apparently made prior to the assault and physical evidence on the scene.
The victim was expected to be treated and released from a local hospital, according to police.
