I've lived in the same stretch of Pico-Union, by the 110 freeway, until I moved to Fresno a few years ago. A neighbor of mine lived up in Val Verde for a year too. She told me it was nothing but horses up there.
My question is: what in the SCV attracts working class Mexicans? I always thought the area was too upscale to have gangs period.
