David Mack attended Locke High, excelled at track & field, got a scholarship and ran the 800 meters among other events. He ran the fifth fastest time in American history, 1:43:35 in the 800 meters on August 28, 1985. He placed sixth in the 800 meters at the 1980 Olympic Trials and he won the third of his three consecutive Pac-10 titles in 1983.

Its been falsely reported that David Mack grew up in the Mob Piru area of Compton, and that's not true. Not sure which part of Compton he grew up in.

In 1988 he became an LAPD office. It is believed that future chief Bernard Parks recruited him.

I robbed a Bank of America in Los Angeles for $700,000. He was arrested and sentenced to 14 years. On May 14, 2010, he was released from prison.
