That great secular prophet of doom, Vladimer Lenin, once wrote that the two most important questions are "Who?" and "Whom?"- "Who is doing what to whom?" Who leads, and who follows? Who imposes the laws of belief and worship, and who is being imposed upon? Who decides the blasphemy laws, and who must submit to them? It is not a matter of whether, but of who? and whom? These are also inescapable.
So by practical extension, it is not a question of whether you belong to a gang, it is a question of which gang you belong to. Who or what you worship will tell you who the leader of your gang is. What laws you obey will tell you what kind of social order you are committed to. What symbols you are required to be attached to and how you clothe yourself will tell you what priesthood you've been baptized into.
Street gangs have their own liturgies, full of rites and symbols, chants and prayers, beliefs and practices. In other words, street gangs are miniature churches with their own liturgies, priests, prophets, kings, doxologies, prayers, hymns, baptisms, and communions. Nothing new going on here. Just some more false gods and religions to bring under the reign of Christ.
