A large-scale police operation has been conducted in the Czech Republic against Bulgarian mobsters.

The news was reported by the Bulgarian 24 Chassa (24 Hours) daily, citing the Czech Aha online agency.

For several days anti-mafia police have hit on producers of synthetic drugs and dealers in the town of Peci. Police have information that they have links to Bulgarian criminals.

Currently, 17 people are in custody after operation "Liar." Six luxury cars have been seized.

"We assume that the cars are stolen or paid with money earned from drugs," a spokeswoman for the Czech police is quoted in saying.

In addition, Czech police have received a tipoff that the Bulgarian mafia plans revenge and regaining at least the cars.

"We have information that Bulgarians want to attack the police facility where the automobiles are kept and take them back because they have hidden inside them precious cargo which has not yet been discovered by the authorities. Therefore, we keep the cars' tires locked with brackets, just in case," police have said.

According to Czech media, Bulgarian mobsters were making millions from the production and sale of drugs. During the raids, police found three factories for synthetic drugs and a large quantity of heroin. They also seized computers, phones and weapons.
