Death of Los Zetas Top Man - "El Lazca", October 9th, 2012

Marines kill the top drug man Heriberto "El Lazca" Lazcano Lazcano at a local baseball game and didn't even know who he was... until AFTER the body was stolen from the morgue.... maybe to be brought to the mausoleum he built for himself?

This is a guy who was around when Los Zetas were first made into a protection squad for the Gulf Cartel in 1999. When they went independent in 2010, a big war ensued between the Gulf Cartel and Los Zetas who were better trained and were ruthless and intelligent in how they operated. There are videos documenting the rampant violence between the two, centered in Tamaulipas, the state that is right south of texas on the gulf side of Mexico, with each group even posting beheadings and the like on youtube. (A lot of this stuff you can read on the Narco Mundo blog)

A lot of news stories like this one http://abcnews.go.com/ABC_Univision/New ... HZKMBXR4lo claim that this is a big blow to Los Zetas, but the number two man known as Z-40, Miguel Angel Trevino, former gang member in Dallas, Texas, was already vying for top spot. He had already won over a lot of the ranks because he was getting his hands dirty while El Lazca apparently was debating turning religious and leaving the game.

Here's a highlight reel of the Los Zetas most grimy doings in Mexico in their name of their cause. Their greatest hits if you will:
http://abcnews.go.com/ABC_Univision/New ... HZLwxXR4lo
including a prison riot where it looks like the guards opened a cellblock containing Zetas members at 2am, allowing them to flood into the Gulf Cartel block and murder 44 of them, also leading to the escape of 30+ Zetas members that are still at large.

Shit is crazy

That's your prediction or is there news of it being a look-alike?

The Mundonarco blog seemed to be saying they had doubts

facial analysis seems to make the corpse El Lazca's.
