Tattoo Removal Program for Former Gang Members
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
For former gang members trying to begin a new life, gang-oriented tattoos on their face, neck and hands can pose significant barriers. Not only do tattoos discourage potential employers, but the distinctive designs mark them for reprisals from rival gangs.
The Program
The tattoo removal program was the brainchild of Dr. Zwiebel and Swedish Laser Coordinator, Rosanne Engblom, R.N. Together they met with the representatives from the Denver Metro Gang Coalition to see if Swedish's tattoo removal technology could help ex-gang members. In August 1994, the gang tattoo removal program began.
Program Candidates
Two Denver agencies who work with gang members and at-risk youth, screen the potential candidates for the program. The tattoo removal process is lengthy, up to two years, and expensive, $3,000 to $7,000. In order to qualify for the free tattoo removal program, the former gang member must prove he or she is serious about rehabilitation.
Criteria includes:
commitment to leave the gang and gang lifestyle
enrollment in a self-help program
agreement to have no other tattoos put on
commitment to leading a crime-free life
enrollment in school, a community service program or job
10 hours of community service prior to each treatment
Kids come in every three months for treatment at no charge. The physicians donate their time. The hospital donates the staff to coordinate the program and the use of the tattoo laser.

Re: List Nationwide Tattoo Removal Service's Here
ha ha, CS i wish i would of known about the above service way back when but now its kind of too late for me cause i dont think i have 3 inches on my body that aint tatted up. but it would be a good thing for some of these youngsters to try and hook up and have something done cause they are losing out on alot of possibilities. most people go by first impression. even tho a person may look a certain way once someone can get past the first impression they will have a different understanding twords that person. but the thing is getting past that first impression.

Tattoo Removal Programs In The State Of Texas:
In 1999, the Office of the Attorney General received a grant from the Governor's Criminal Justice Division to help start-up tattoo removal programs around the state. The programs provide free or low cost tattoo removal depending on eligibility criteria. The grant provided for the purchase of equipment and general start-up medical supplies. Each program is locally run, therefore check with each program to determine their specific eligibility criteria.

Re: looking for removal service in NJ
You can try these clinics below. I didn't find any clinics that were free, but you can always call one of these doctors and ask. Maybe they can refer you. I hope this helps.Ichilltown wrote:Anybody know of a tattoo removal service near jersey city, newark area. basically hudson or essex county
CS.
Here is a complete list of New Jersey tattoo removal centres. Most of them use will remove your tattoo by laser technique but it is always better to call all of them and ask for price and tattoo removal technique.
Even if there are many tattoo removal places in New Jersey you can also check New York City's tattoo removal centres if you want to have your tattoo removed there.

Greetings Friends:
I am Pastor Jan Kaatz, pastor of the Seventh-day Adventist Church and host to the Agape Light Tattoo Removal Program.
To those who have inquired since our last session, welcome! To our returning clients, hope all is well. I am writing to let you know some details about the program.
Dr. Popkow has agreed volunteer his time and expertise to remove unwanted tattoos. He has established the criteria that the tattoos he removes must be visible when wearing normal clothing. The location of the tattoos to be removed are on either the neck, face, or hands.
This is done free of charge.
The program works this way. Interested persons are invited to come to a devotional meeting at the church on a Friday night. After this, Dr. Popkow will meet with new patients to go over the procedure(s). Patients may then select an available time slot for the next Saturday afternoon to see Dr. Popkow in his office.
You may not just "show up" on Saturday without an appointment made on Friday night.
If there are any questions about the eligibility of the tattoo - I would recommend coming Friday night and talking with Dr. Popkow.
I look forward to seeing you on Friday night!
Jan D. Kaatz
Pastor

Overview
When a gang member gets smart and wants to get out of the gang and find employment, he or she finds it nearly impossible to do so. Tattoos turn off employers. "People just look at me and know I was a gang member," said a 19-year-old from Ojai when he went for an unsuccessful job interview.
Tattoos are a stigma that follows them through life. They find it difficult to get a job. They find it difficult to have a lasting relationship. They find it difficult to become a productive member of society.
When people begin to regret their tattoos, many resort to drastic measures. A Fillmore High School student used a knife to gouge a gang insignia from his hand. He was afraid the tattoo might provoke gang members to attack him. An 18 year old single mother held a flame under a kitchen spoon, heating it "for a long time." Then she pressed it against her cheekbone, just below her left eye. Infection and scaring resulted, and there is still a trace of the three dots at the corner of her left eye. These extreme measures to remove gang tattoos illustrate the steps our youth will take to get out of gangs, hoping to lead productive lives.

Re: List Nationwide Tattoo Removal Service's Here
If you are looking for a tattoo removal clinic in Jersey City, then you should visit Heritage Veins & Aesthetic. I recently got my tattoo removed from there. My tattoo not so big size but it is on an average so it takes three sittings for the entire procedure. They used the latest Approved equipment, which is completely safe.
