Who started Torrance Tortilla Flats?
Compton TxFlats proudly trace their varrio lineage to the original East Los ~ Tortilla Flats
But what about Torrance TF?
They didn’t just pull the name outta thin air … someone started them

here's why. You read the from the history of The Playboys huh?
they wrote Hang-Out Boyz came out in 1987 in South Central
well I know for a matter of fact, the East Side Hang Out Boyz was out before then
i know P**** from es HOBZ personally - he was in Y.A. for a hot one & was with my roll dog Fly (rip) from THE LOTT 13 Locos
I caught up with him a few years later when i hit Y.A.
to this day ~ we still slam a couple of cold ones every once in a while... we got history together
east side HANG OUT BOYZ was one of the few Stoner gangs we actually got along with in the 1980's
them and the FTW Stoners... everyone else ... it was on and cracken'...
es HOBZ predates the ss HOBZ ... so no way they were started by PBS... they were started by the east los counter-parts

if you can touch on it - i dont need specifics or names -
but in a nut-shell: why did all those cliques break away from Inglewood Family?
IFG would have been huge

Youngspade....
I had a few folks that hung in the wood and I always have heard that IFG used to trip on each other tough. There was an attitude that some didn't respect others and thats how CMG came about. NHP i don't know. I hear the CMG used to bully some of the IFG when their numbers were up. Your city you know better. This was back in the late 80's to mid 90's. Now that the bottoms are gone, not sure how many CMG's are out, but they still have a presence I am told. That Century area is alot cleaner now though.

Re: Clicks that became gangs in Los Angeles
What about OFA 13?
Because I know OFA is also a tagging/writing crew.
I've heard stories from different people...
Someone told me OFA divided into two parts -- writers and bangers, that represent the same hood.
Then someone told me OFA was a tagging crew that became tagbangers and then full-fledged bangers.
Then I was also told they're two separate groups that aren't related, they just have the same initials. OFA 13 and OFA crew.

Disregard... I didn't read the question correctly... Probably because it's early in the morning.
I was thinking the thread was about crews and non-banging cliques/crews that became gangs, not clicks of big gangs that broke off and became their own gang. Like PBGC starting off as a dance crew and becoming a gang. Or MCS being a stoner crew at first before banging.

^That's a good question about OFA that I've always wondered myself. I first heard of the OFA tagging crew back in the 90's. Also when driving through LA freeways I would see them hit up a lot. I never knew they turned into a gang till I saw them listed on this site as one. I wonder what the history is there. And whether it's two separate crews or one in the same.

Re: Clicks that became gangs in Los Angeles
Yeah, I first started hearing about OFA in the 90s too. Did you see them around the freeways near Downtown? That's mainly where I remember them -- around the Downtown area. They had a huge OFA (13?) roller in the L.A. River not far from the SABER pieces near the 10 freeway. It lasted until the river got buffed a few years ago.
There's also an OFA in Las Vegas. OFA & PM are probably the two most notorious Vegas crews. I'm wondering if OFA in Vegas branched off from OFA in L.A., or if they're unrelated.
I've always wondered what the story is on OFA the graffiti crew and OFA 13 the gang.

Re: Clicks that became gangs in Los Angeles
OFA13 is not associated with OFA the crew. The gang OFA stand for Oxford Ave. No relation. But my crew in the early 90's went at it hard with OFA and they were with the biz even though they were just taggers.

I heard the Indiana Dukes were a clique of VNE.
Makes sense... “Dukes” is almost always used as a clique name in Hispanic gangs

Some people, especially bvn, claim that their worst rival Blythe Street BST used to a click of Barrio Van Nuys. BST denies it.
Vanowen Street Locos was tight with BVN when I went to van nuys high 1990s. They were practically a click of BVN but they broke off and started beefing.

Re: Clicks that became gangs in Los Angeles
Tolse aka Bones was from a crew called "STP" out in the San Fernando Valley, he got a lil to close to a girl named wendy, whom kicked it with people from both pacoima and san fer. Wendy would bring him along to parties, kick backs etc. Pacoima 13 eventually killed him. He has a r.i.p video on youtube, with pictures of him from the 90s. His death was also covered by L.A Times. "Around 10:00pm on saturday, january 25, 1999, a 23 year old van nuys man was fatally shot at a party in the 9800 block of Woodale Avenue in Arleta, California. Efren Barbosa, an alleged gang member was shot multiple times in the upper torso after a fight broke out between rival gang members at a party."
Anyway his crew "STP" got absorbed into San Fer 13 after his death, and is now an official click called "Shooting the Pacas". in his memory.

Re: Clicks that became gangs in Los Angeles
Their was a click called "CFP", Crazy Faded Players that was over in BE13's hood, they eventually got jumped in and became a click of Barrio Evil 13, now there known as the "Calle 40th Place" click of the Barrio Evil 13 gang.
